New to me RD250

1975 original condition and paint
RD250 - two stroke, 6speed, disc brake.

Starts right up, runs great, everything works, $660 woot!

Been wanting to build a cafe racer for years and finally found a good bike to work with. Planning on a new seat, ditching the rear fender and all that jazz, ripping out the oil injection stuff and running mix, pod air filters, relocating the battery, chop the front fender, remove the center stand and anything else not necessary. Going for a a clean simple bike, the cleaner looking I can make it the better. Or atleast thats the plan going in with zero experience at building cafe racers I'll update this thread as a log as time goes on.

Ok, it's really hard to ride a bike while holding an iphone in your left hand... in the rain lol, but it drives nice when i can use the clutch

It needed levers but I just ordered some a few minutes ago...

Most the stock parts are in really good shape, the forks have a little rust on them right up at the top, so if you have a set of forks in good shape I might be interested. Also something is screwy with the front brakes, sometimes they grab fast and the lever is firm, sometimes the lever comes back to the bar and needs to be pumped once or twice. I'm thinking it's just some air in the line, but there is a possibility of needing a caliper or master cylinder, I'll let you know after I look at it a little closer. Other than that I think I should be good unless you have cafe parts for sale

I can burn you a copy on a cd or print one one on paper for you. Let me know what you prefer. Those forks suck, they are almost all rust pitted and it sucks. Cheapest I found tubes are $269 at Forken by Franks.

no preference i'll take whatever I can get haha. Is that the service manual or the owners manual? I think I saw a service manual online somewhere, but the owners manual I've been drawing a blank on.

before you chop the front fender, have you thought about bolting on a pedestrian slicer? I like the chopped fenders on my cafe, but I sometimes wish I could have put on that slicer with the stock fender powdercoated in black....

started ording some parts for the build. Had a lot of fun with my first two stoke build, and this one has a heck of a lot more motor to play with, should be a good time
