Vintage Headlight

I was given an old rusty shell of a fog light and this is what I turned it into. If you know anything about old automotive lights then this will interest you. The lamp was originally from a 40's Firetruck. It even had some red overspray on it. It is made by guide. I retained the brass ID tag and serial number. I also replaced the bulb with a 12 volt highway light bulb. When it goes on the bike the wires will be fabric covered to give it an older look.

That is cool.

I have an old tail light that has the word STOP, molded on the inside of the lens. The only problem is that it is about 6" dia. I hear they made smaller ones. It would be cool on a custom.

Thanks man, is your "stop" light the oval style? Or the Norton round style?

Here is what I'm using. I found a vintage microphone and modified it to run a taillight. I gotta paint that up next.

It is round, but way too big for bikes. I was told that it was an aftermarket light for large trucks back in the 40's or 50's.

I also have heard from a car buff, that they also made them for cars, with a 3" dia. lens.

That mic is sweet!!! Wish I had thought of that.

That Mic is awesome Geo, great idea!

I love the look of old lights like that, but the illumination is sometimes questionable, how does this one perform?

It will preform questionably. Nah actually because I used a highway lamp from a modern bike it should preform ok, but this bike is more about looks, I don't think I'm gonna be touring on it. Now if the bike had a 6V system I would be more worried.
