Walnecks Swap meet opens vintage season.

Buzz Walneck, who is well known in vintage, classic and antique motorcycle circles, is promoting his annual Spring Swap meet at the McHenry County Fairgrounds in Woodstock this Sunday (April 19). This event is the acknowledged right of Spring for the community of riders who enjoy classic and vintage bikes.
If the weather is cooperative there is always a large turn out of great bikes of various vintages ridden to the event, and if the weather is lousy, everyone trucks up for a combination of socializing and searching for that elusive part to complete your current project or the new project that will keep you going until the next one comes along.
Ton Up Chicago is hosting a ride to the swap starting at the Starbucks on Irving, just west of the Kennedy Expressway at 7 AM (Gotta get to these swaps early!) Details as they become available.
Buzz usually has a show area and gives out awards and some of the bikes that are displayed are worth the trip alone. Most are ridden in if the weather is good. Rain or shine, it's always a good time and if you have an interest in vintage bikes this IS the "season opener" and a great way to connect with vintage enthusists and clubs.

"Dirt is for racing on...Asphalt is for getting there" OR "Flat trackers go in deeper and come out harder... OR (With apologies to General MaCarthur) "Old motorcycle racers never die, they just slip off the groove and fade into the dust!

We offer three kinds of service @ Resurrection
GOOD - CHEAP - FAST
You can pick any two
GOOD service CHEAP won't be FAST
GOOD service FAST won't be CHEAP
FAST service CHEAP won't be GOOD

What a lousy day for a swap meet...BUT...in spite of the horrendous weather there was a tremendous turn out and some unbelievable bargains to be had on parts and some bikes! There was a KZ 900 that was immaculate for $5000! There were a couple of BSA's, A 650 Lightening and a Thunderbolt that would have brightened any vintage Brit enthusiast's garage! and a slew of all manner of dirt bikes and parts at some of the best prices I've seen at a swap in a long, long time! One of my fellow Ton Up members found a gas tank for his 850 Yamaha Cafe project in VGC with cap & petcocks for $25...He told me the cheapest one he saw on EBay was $200!
In a down economy, swap meets are proving to be the place for bargains for vintage motorcycle enthusiasts!
Next Walneck's Swap in the Chicagoland area: June 7, at the fairgrounds in Sandwich IL.
Next one at Woodstock IL.: June 28
