1972 ct70 knowledge?

i have my fathers 1972 honda ct70 mini trail bike and i just got it running after 10 years of sitting apart. it starts and idles great, i rebuilt carb with all new compnents and jets that came original in bike and set the carb to factory spec, headgaskets, and so on. the bike is just under powerd and wont go over 25mph with out screaming.my father told me we used to do 40mph on it no problem. sounds like i might be lean. timing was set straight up as manuel stated. i dont have a compression gauge for that small of a spark plug hole but the way it starts and idles im hoping that its not the problem "has new rings and honed cylinder. thanks in advance for any help

Is the transmission set to low range? There should be a lever on the underside of the bike, on the shifter side.

ya cluth is ok and adjustment. it is shited with the foot. what else i forgot to mention is that the intake boot from the air cleaner is not on due to some clearence issues im having with this new aftermarket boot. i know if the air clean isnt on my twin 2 stroke it will cause bogging and other problems but not sure about these small 4 strokes.

You are way lean the bike gets 75mpg I'm thinking it has to much air when it's air tight.Connect all the air box parts and get back to us .

You may want to raise the slide needle as well that will help

figured out the air box situation. had to do a little trimming to get it right. think it was a bad mold. got everything togethor and went down a notch on the needle jet. bikeruns good. was cruising around 35mph but anything over that and the front end vibrates real bad. going to have to look into that. but thanks for the help and hopefully i can get it tittled so i can drive this thing on the street and probley still get pulled over. lol
