Damn You Gus

Your "Old Friends" Thread has me sitting at my desk playing remember when

Birth to 12 yrs old in Central Cali less than a mile from the Beach - Got moved when I was 12 yrs old thru HS to a Suburb of Detroit - Moved back to Cali at 17 to live with my Sis and thats when it got nutty - I had my own entrance to the house - My own bathroom - Came and went as I pleased - Not good for a 17 yr old with ZERO parental influence within 1000 miles of him - I had (1) cat that I could talk into anything and vice versa - Neither of us ever wanted to lose to the other - Crazy the shit we did - 90% fueled by drugs and booze and 10% fueled by the fear of being called a pussy by the other - My boy bought it less than a year after I moved back to Mich (at 20 to clean myself up and go to college) and when I went back to the funeral, all said he got even worse without me around - SO, I get where you are coming from - If I stayed in CA and continued to be a freak, would CJ still be alive? - Would I still be alive - It fucks with you man, this I know

This entire album is my 3 years in CA after HS and before I cleaned myself up - We played this tune a ton when CJ passed - I think about that cat a lot these days and your thread was wild with its timing

I guess we should be happy (most of the time) we have some memories.

the buddy that has the violent crime sentence first served 5 yrs for man sloter. He killed a man in a bar fight.
When he got out he was the meanest MF you'd ever meet.He wasn't like that when he went in.
The system created a monster as before the bar fight and prison time he was just a tuff guy getting into fights once in awhile.

He killed the fella with one punch to the left ear and after that he was no good.He came out of prison 20lbs heavier, stronger, and meaner.

I miss the old boy we sure had some fun pumping iron a picking fights at neighboring town parties,I never thought it would lead to all that.

this is definately a subject i dont think much about...
of the friends i had growing up adn in HS
4 are dead, 2 in combat in iraq, 1 motorcycle accident the simmer after graduating, 1 OD
theres one other kid I presume is dead of OD since I havent heard from/of him much at all since he dropped out
a few friends definately turned things around after HS too, amazingly so actually, just for a fb friend request from a guy that was practically the dropouts shadow in school, hes doing well for himself.
ive got a couple friends that just plain stopped progressing after HS ended one I expected that the other, not so much.
most of my friends, least the ones i still have some contact with are right about average, career type jobs etc

We were mambie pambie compared to this Bro - We were just White Punks with Zero Fear and high high high so everything seemed do-able

If you get a chance, watch the Movie "Lost Angles" staring The Bestie Boys' "Ad-Rock" - This was Central Cali and the shit we pulled - Never really took it as far as wackin somebody - All my boys that did time were from Car Theft or Drug Dealing - Some times it was the firs to pay off the second

Jackin Cars can be a rush...
