Did G 'n R rip off Black Sabbath?

Tony Iomi thinks so. At least his riff anyway. And after all, that's one of the things Tony is known for. His riffs.

Btw, I had this on vinyl when it came out. This was the one album where Sabbath featured Ian Gillan (Deep Purple) after Dio went solo after two albums with Sabbath. As a 13 year-old (lol) I thought this was one of the better tracks on the album and a pretty cool riff. Tony reckons in his recently released autobio that G 'n R must have thought it was pretty cool riff too. He has thouands of riffs and wonders in the book if he should start selling them.

You be the judge.

He also said someone suggested that the Beastie Boys used Hot Line in Fight for your Right.

He had no plans to sue in either case at any time.

... isn't there a saying that nothing is truly original just stolen and prettified... I mean besides Vanilla Ice (which is one of the funniest samples ever.) I think nobody can really say their stuff is THAT original, specially a guitar rift. Mozart should wake up from the grave and start to sue people!

Seriously, that a rather big stretch.

And if Tony has 1000s of riffs, then yes, some people are going to happen to have something like his.

As someone who plays guitar, bass..etc... I think it's completely ridicules when someone complains about stolen riffs. Even David Bowie suing Vanilla Ice I thought was total bullshit. Why? Because the entire song is different. Same thing goes for any recording for that matter.

In the music industry it's all about the money.

LZ NEVER hid the fact that they are HEAVILY Blues Inspired and remade many old blues songs - Look at Liner Notes

Old news. Axle freely admits to ripping off the Sabbath riff for Paradise City. There are interviews quoting him.

And another Sabbath "Remake" that equally kicks ass

And either Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) or Al Jorgensen (Ministry, post Heroin) - The debate still lingers to this day
