Gettin back into Hip Hop and.....

....have found some good shit as of late in Basic Vocab - I have been in a Electronic DJ haze for a few years now and have neglected my Groovy Roots - Now, I am not talking Hard Core rap or any of that new TI or Young Jeezy shit, I mean quality Hip Hop - Stuff like Tribe Called Quest, The Roots, Musiq Soulchild etc etc

Anything new and smooth out there these days I might be overlooking? - I like the smooth style and not all the fast shit or the "Bling and Bang" shit either

Here is an example of what i am talking about - Chicago's own pride of the S Side - Oh, and no, I am not down with Kanye

His Music is okay but I cannot bring myself to buy/support that little "In The Closet Self Indulged Fuck!" - I do however tolerate him due to his producing abilities

jesus that brings back memories. I saw the Roots 9 years ago in a college gymnasium with like 100 people. Possibly the best show I've ever been to. He made all the girls get up front, no dudes. That was painful, but a nice view.

I know I'm forgetting some great groups... gah, I wish I had all the music I ever listened to...

This is just what I needed. Real Rappers doing what the f**k they are supposed to be doing rappin! I'm tired of almost all modern hip hop it sucks!

Here is my contribution to real hip hop.

Are you looking for old school hiphop or hiphop that's current? Anyways I'll post old and new. Some are commerical hiphop artists now, but they old music is still classic of what hiphop is.

Common - A song for Assta
Atmosphere - Caved In
Brother Ali - Room with a view
Brother Ali - Picket Fence
Last Emperor ft Poetic & Esthero - One Life
Sage Francis - Crumble
Immportal Technique - 4th Branch
Sand People/Redshield - Growing Pains
Organized Konfusion - Invetro
The Roots - The Hypnotic
UGK - One Day You're here, Then you gone
Blu-Fly - Song of liberation
Blackstarr - Redefinition
Common - Retrospect For Life
Jake Lefco - Headphones
Common - G.O.D.

Chino XL alot of his songs are classics. The song that started him off.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YfU1eEWt7A
Cyne is another group thats underrated their first few albums are dope.
(Cyne - nothing's scared)
T.H.U.G Angelz is another album that dropped in 2008 a few decent songs.
Median is also another good hiphop album of 2008
Percee P is probably another dope dude. His beats sound like the 90's hiphop but his lyrics are dope.
Binary Star another dope group.
Mc Juice Chicago hiphop artist, more of a battle rapper.

The list goes on and on... Let me know if you want more.

Take a wild guess on these 2. This is old school hiphop but one's an actor and ones a producer/artist.

Common is tops on my playlist right now. His new CD is good, but his previous two were better. I don't think Kanye's last CD was very good.

Check out Lupe Fiasco. Q-Tip as mentioned has a new CD out, haven't listened to it yet though. Also check out N.E.R.D., Pharrell's group; Seeing Sounds is a good CD.
