Best Freshman Releases - Bands

Was having a discussion today at lunch about Bands and their "Freshman Releases" of "1st Album Put Out" as one of my dumb ass friends so delicately put it - My Top Five are

1. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin
2. Boston - Boston
3. Pearl Jam - Ten
4. Guns & Roses - Appetite for Destruction
5. The Police - Outlandos d'Amour

Hit me with your thoughts and Top 5

WOW - Never even thought of (4) of those and we ruled out Nirvana as "Bleach" was their first release

Paranoid is argualby a better album, but not by much. NIB and The Wizard alone make the first really really good. I played the fuck out of their first album for years. Also the fact there was nobody else that sounded remotely like them prior to their first album. It was a big jump in music IMO

(But Ozzy has turned into a bumbling coporate boob nowadays.)

Good choice ... it's on my top 100 list, but not top 5:

1) Crowded House - Crowded House
2) Robbie Robertson - Robbie Robertson
3) Enigma - MCMXCa.d.
4) Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, Howe - ABWH
5) Depeche Mode - Speak & Spell

REM no, Document was better than Chronic Town or Murmur.

The Clash no, London calling or Sandanista

The Rolling Stones no Let it Bleed is the best.

Gish is by far the best the Pumpkins have ever released to this day and for me, got eeked out by The Police but it would be a very easy #6 - GREAT CALL

The Crows - I am disappointed in myself now - AWESOME release and IMHO, the best they have ever released

whoa whoa whoa now, I didnt think it had to be the best album in the catalog just albums we consider best debut albums. First albums for bands that were just awesome. So it has to be the best album and their debut album?

I didn't realize you meant that their debut album was better than any other release. I thought you just meant a very strong debut.
