Post Spring Green 7/16, Bad news (The Braden Thread)

Bradr6 died today during the spring green alphabet soup ride.

He ran wide on a right hand sweeper directly into an oncoming vehicle.
When i got to him he had a very faint pulse and was not breathing. I checked him a minute later and his pulse was gone.

EMT's were on the scene pretty quickly given the rural location, thanks to a quick thinking resident who was outside her house at the time. They tried their hardest to revive him but it was such a powerful impact that i'm sure he was dead upon contact.

I have been in touch with the Iowa county sherrif's department, they will forward me contact information once his family has had time to grieve. I will pass this info on to you.

I met him for the first time today, and in that short time I found him to be a great person, as well as a incredibly skilled rider. A far better rider than I. I suppose everyone makes mistakes now and then, Its a shame that this one had such tragic consequences.

I honestly never pray, but tonight i will say a prayer for his family and i hope that anyone reading this will as well. I intend to help his family in any way possible and i hope that as a group we can do something to help them through this.

Thank you,

Tom

I feel sick. I am speechless, I don't know what to say.

Brad, your family will be in my prayers tonight, as will you.

Rest In Peace, Brother.

Post Spring Green 7/16 Bad news.....

I just want to let everyone know that BradR6 (Braden) passed away today during our ride. He was coming into a 40 mph corner with too much speed and crossed the yellow line, not being able to lean over more and hit a Dodge Ram truck head on. The bike dented the hood and from the scene of the accident, it looks like Brad hit the windshield. The truck driver tried to evade Brad by going off onto the shoulder, but it wasn't enough. Brad was lying next to the truck and with no pulse was proclaimed deceased by the paramedics.

The passengers in the truck appeared to be a father and two teenage sons. They were all visibly shaken and told us he tried to avoid him as best as he could.

I still do not know Brad's last name, as Alex (Fast Beemer) and I only met him on last weekend's ride. We do know that he was from Marengo and he told us he used to ride solo a lot doing the Stage Coach run often. On last weekend's ride, it was apparent that Brad was a very experienced rider, by quickly getting behind the leader and keeping pace. He was also very level-headed, doing the speed limit near and in towns.

At the start of today's ride, Brad agreed to take over the lead as he was more experienced that I to lead through the sweepers. I discussed the route with him, gave him turn-by-turn directions and we took off from Rockton. All was going well and a good time was had by all (9 total riders). A U-turn due to a road being repaired put Brad around 4th in the order of the group, with myself taking over the lead, followed by Alex and Tom (Ducati 1000SS).

On the road of the accident (County K near Mazomonie), Brad overtook Tom near the corner and couldn't slow down from his overtaking speed, for the right speed through the corner. A woman was in her front yard near the said corner and called 911 and paramedics were there in about 10 mins. After giving and getting as much information as we could to the sheriff, we were advised to move on. We stopped in Mazomonie and before lunch, Alex's friend on a BMW K1200LT, who is a deacon is his church, said a prayer for Brad. We took the highway and headed home.

RIP Braden.

That's horrible news. I don't think I ever had a chance to meet him, but the fact that he's one of our own makes it hit closer to home

Rest in Peace Brad.

This is such a sad thing to read, a very hard thing to read. ALL of my prayers and thoughts to his family in this hard time, gods speed to Brad.

I had a chill run through my body as I read this knowing that it could happen to anyone of us, experienced or not.

I truely have NOTHING else I can think of to say, in person or typing......

have any of you seen the movie 5 people you meet in heaven?

well the point of the movie is that every action you take effects many many other people in this world. Even though what happened is a horrible thing maybe he just saved some of our lives by making us think twice.

So the next time your out riding think about that. They say he was a very good rider. Accidents just happen. people make mistakes. So the point is everyone be careful, and always wear your gear.

When you ride you need to watch with 4 eyes. 2 in the front and 2 in the back.

RIP BradR6.

I was a couple of bikes behind Brad. Mistake or not, this was extremely bad luck with a horrible outcome. I wish there was some way we could turn back time and avoid this tragedy, so BradR6 could be with us in more than just thoughts and prayers. The helplessness and anger that I think we all felt at the scene will not go away soon, but most of all I feel very sad.

RIP brother Brad. Condolences to family, friends, and the fellow riders who had to witness this horrible event. A sobering experience for all. I hope his family gets through this somehow, some way.

The only solace that I would be able to take from all this is that he was doing what he loved to do.

Godspeed.
