D200 Post mortem

I struggled during the daytona 200 this weekend. One bad thing after another. A transporter forgot my spare rear wheel and front stand, Could not restart the bike after the first red flad - got it push started, got it boosted after the 2nd red flag. Finally found a loose battery terminal and restarted strong the third time only to be taken down by Herrin from the side as he passed me.

Crushed Hindle exhaust, broken bracket, broken master cylinder, bent clip on bar, destroyed superbike tail and upper, jammed throttle, bent rearsets, ripped leathers but luckily no serious permanent damage...

Replaced chain before and during Q1, rear tire warmer didn't work, steering damper rubbing on steering head causing funky handling, rear tire up to 40# before Q1 - must have gotten distracted while bleeding off excess. Shipped sprocket to track and realized they were too tall. Bought 2 extra and they were still too talk because of high winds during the race. Had to change tail section numbers & a couple of other minor things.

Kinda disastrous but still happy I got to participate and roll 18 laps on this very distinctive track...My crash and ensuing discussion is documented on facebook page: united states road racing updates and info. Lots of pics and a long debate...

Learned a lot and ready to hit it harder next year. will do a couple of rounds of Moto America in Supersport - RA and Indy.

Sorry to hear it was such a clusterfuck, but that must have been a hell of an experience.

Can you post pics on here for those of us not on Facebook? FWIW, an Imgur album takes about 2 minutes to create.

Congrats on ur doing the 200. Bummer you got taken out. All those issues you had seems like you where not prepared. This is not your average endurance race and alot of prep and work goes into it. Hopefully next time you will be more prepared. Get that bike up and running as the race season will be in full bloom soon enough.

Yes, I could have been better prepared. Although the bike started fine for the signting lap, warm up lap and initial start. The nut must have loosened those couple of laps before the first red flag. Part of the issue is having the bike down in Fl. with limited tools and spares.

That crash looks like it could have been a lot worse if you weren't lucky. Taking bikes to the nape of the neck doesn't sound fun. Glad you're alright, there's always next year to learn from the mistakes!
