Yes. The basis of the series is that the the Vamps have "come out of the coffin" and let the world know they exist. And in the background of episodes you'll notice vamp/human politics and law come up now and then.

Remember, Sam is a Shapeshifter, so are warewovles (and warepanthers and...), and Sookie is a Telepath. So why would warewolves be out of the question? And what about Warewolf politics, and the possibility of them "coming out of the woods" or whatever they would call it?

Without giving away too much of the future (though the TV show has already diverged from the books greatly), there is a lot more of the "Supernatural" to come.

I fully agreed..... until I watched the "postmortem" last night. The fact that they are using actual hand raised/trained wolves instead of CG made me more interested in it for some reason.

I don't know if I'm going to be able to last through the giant love triangle that is going to be a large part of this season.

Yeah, they had a preshow.... which was more or less an ad for every new HBO series coming up this year with True Blood clips thrown in.

Then right after they had the Postmortem where they showed some more season 3 clips and also clips of the actors talking about the real wolves and some of the trainers working with them. It was pretty bad ass.

I don't know about that black chick. I am so tired of her personality. I'm actually starting to really hate her. And it's a tv show for Christ sakes.

...plus my gf was with me saying "omg slow down, slow down" and I was thinking "Lose annoying squalk box in passenger seat, afford more mods and have less weight in the car and on the back of the bike"...so i dumped her and I'm single again as usual...HERE KITTY KITTY!!!

I can't read too far ahead as there might be spoilers. Me and the wife are just finishing up the first season. It took a bit of prodding to get her to watch it bc it wasn't Twilight. Now she's hooked. And i think once she realized True Blood was written four years before Twilight she was depressed. Like vampire shows and movies didn't happen till Twilight came out.

That's actually a pretty accurate description!

In the books, she has these moral dilemmas that wind up ending with What Would Grandma Do. So the show is actually following the character as described. Honestly, Eric, Bill, Sookie, and Jason all are very well pulled off according to how they were described in the book. I think the Show writers fell in love with the characters and premise (vamps out of the coffin + supernatural right in our back yard), and have kept true to those ideas, but are clearly running with a different story arc. I really like their inclusion of Lafayette as a main character, as I really like the character and the actor (Lafayette was killed off in the books).

Yep, I hated that. I like the TV version of him, he's great & highly entertaining.

Also they are spot on with Jason. Total man slut, but hot.

Some stuff is from the books and some stuff they add later (maybe for TV effect) but its pretty good, I admit.

I wasn't sure I was going to like the series on TV considering I hated Dresden Files TV series but LOVE the books.

Oh, you mean like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and her living in the Hellmouth?

I think True Blood being in the South is actually a pretty good place for Vamps to 'come out of the coffin', so to speak. It's one of the last areas of the US to be holding on to the past- the good ole' Cajun/Acadian population still even speaks French in some places! It also has some precedent, as the Interview With the Vampire series by Anne Rice started in New Orleans and consistently revisited that area throughout the novels.
