A Game of Thrones

I'm really loving this show. It's got very clever writing, but you need to pay close attention to what's said as they don't dumb it down at all. It's got some of the feel of Blood and Sand, but not as edgy...and a bit more fantasy than realism.

Check it out if you have time, but start from the beginning, and pay attention. It's not something you can casually watch, or you'll have trouble getting into it.

I read the first book about a year ago, it was good but dense. I could tell it was going to spiral into some sort of gigantic Robert Jordan disaster and i bailed. I bet it will be good as a series though.

I might start reading the series after I plow through these zombie books I picked up. I'm afraid it might ruin the show for me though.

Any show that's got a beautiful queen and her handsome twin brother incest scene, hints of monsters and dragons, and a brilliant dwarf prince that practically lives at whore houses...it's got a good start in my book.

The books are good but the landscape is so large and sprawling that its difficult to move the story along, I hate that.

Hell yea, definitely a good show so far, got me hooked on this mofo.

Also agree with you on it as that this requires your full attention, because there are a lot of things you'd be missing if you aren't attentive.

The series of books are a blast to read, Martin shows no mercy whatsoever throughout them all.

The political intrigue tinged with sorcery makes for an excellent read.

I have watched this so far and I'm impressed by a few things but the story is moving slowly as they introduce everyone and their relationships.

There is a good amount of boob in it though so that breaks it up, that being said ep2 was the best so far though in the content aspect and moving things along

^^^ Delete that fucker

I was home sick this weekend, so I caught up on all episodes...slow going, but interesting. Enough that I ordered the books from Amazon last night. Box set was $19.95 or some such.

So I finally sat down and started in on the books this week (I had to kill off a few Sci-Fi I was working on). The Game of Thrones TV series follows the books so well, that I really feel like I'm rewatching the episodes! Which is great, because as I said earlier it's easy to miss stuff.

I'm really enjoying the series and the book...I'm concerned with where the Dothraki storyline is going, but even more concerned with the network keeping up the series. This is one I'd love to see actually follow through!

I did the opposite and broke down and started watching the series, it's quite good. Dinklage does an amazing job with Tyrion and HBO has done a great job staying faithful to the books, although I don't remember picking up on Reny and Loras being gay lovers but HBO sure showed it off. Not sure what's up with the advertising stills you posted at the top of the page, they're so photoshopped they dont look like any of the characters at all.

I agree with you about the huge cast of characters. If I hadn't seen the show, I'd be hard pressed to keep them all straight. Catelyn is a much better character on screen than in the book. Well, so far...I'm only about 10 chapters in.

I can't get over Dinklage's voice. It kills me that such a strong, well spoken voice comes from such a little man. He does pull that character off well.

As for the image above, I think it's from the pilot.

I think they're paintings or something because they barely look like the actors I think they're supposed to be.

So I didn't care for last weeks episode...it was supposed to be a holy shit moment but wasn't to me. This last weekends episode, while predictable I really enjoyed. Nothing like (spoiler alert)

Also, reading the book now, I understand Bran's character better. It makes last weeks episode make more sense.

I'm plowing through the books still. I'm about 3/4 of the way through book three. Shit's getting REAL now (finally). I do hope they do it justice on the TV show.

Some new actors/characters for season two, including some slight changes from the books. (some are kinda hot!)

And Brienne is supposed to be a large woman and butt ugly, but this one I'm not sure fits the description completely.

I am waiting to finish the series before I watch anything, the casting looks awesome so far.

I am on the second book now, reading it a chapter at a time so I don't feel the environment fatigue.

I loved the Hobbit, but hated LoTR, I don't get why people love Tolkien so much. Could never get into the WoT series either, but GoT so far has been a lot of fun.

I know the new season is starting soon but I'm still 4 episodes shy of finishing the first. Each episode I have watched is a build up to something that should be happening in the next episode but never does. I got annoyed with it.

The book is the same way. There are major threads that are left hanging (granted I've not picked up the 5th book until it's on Paperback), foreshadowed and then nothing yet...
