Need briliant ideas here
So for the past 8 months ive been trying to get an issue solved with the bike....Some may know this, in 5th and 6th gear accelearting to around 14000 RPM my bike will cut out all accelration (slight fuel dump and killer flame though from the random fuel cut) and throw a permanet FI light that gets reset when i turn the key off.
So accelerating in 5th to 14000 cuts out and wont accelrate again until the engine brakeing brings the RPM down (so picture complete engine power loss not electrical) shift into 6th and i get accelration but again will stop at 14000
not 100% sure if it happens in 3rd or 4th but it doesnt happen in 2nd
I looked at the clutch switch and it appears to be fine (wires plugged in and switch positoned properly). Was thinking if maybe the Power commander map (from dynojet is wacky) but the one downloaded in the PC3 has another 1500RPM before cut out.
Was given the idea to pull the Commander off and see what happens but heres where i need ideas......any briliant LEGAL ideas on how to test the bike as i need to get to 5th gear and 6th gear past 14000.....and umm thats breaking the law. and something tells me accelrating to 130+mph on a rear stand isnt a good idea.
Before someone says get a dyno pull done.....johnny cant afford a dyno pull
Thanks for your input

remove the PC. how often are you at 14000rpm in either 5th or 6th gear? lol, good luck testing that.

you obviously haven't had a problem doing it before to know that this happens. whats the difference now?
you already spelled out your options.

I don't know where rpm is picked up on your bike, but throw it up on a rear stand with the rear wheel & chain removed.
If the pickup is off the chain then I guess you would find out if it is an electronic or mechanical problem.
most likely its just electronic.

Do the free intro sessions with Nesba at road america. I'm not sure you'll do 14k in fifth at Blackhawk.

Don't do it on a rearstand or unloaded. Bad for the tire, it can literally blow apart. And bad for the engine if you hold it there for any period of time.

Well with you involved, I figured the bike would end up in a million pieces....... as a spare for yours.
Sound like a crank pickup noise to signal ratio issue, although it shouldn't be gear dependent unless there is a secondary vibration involved. Not a bad idea to pull the sensor and check for metal filings / clean it.

Might be a kink in the fuel line even though it looks normal....one idea.
Might be really lean at the RPM in the map on the powercommander at that RPM....I've seen them start sputtering because the map is crap.
Ride it up to where my dyno is now and have Ion check the A/F mixture.

The bike needs to be loaded for it to be dumping a ton of fuel at that RPM.
The dyno is in Harvard...an hr north of the old shop.....basically just west of 47 on 173

you cant be serious?
1) over rev; the ecu will not be able to kick in t he rev limiter fast enough to catch the motor before it goes past redline because it will rev so fast with no load
2)as kevin said it wont be fueling properly without a load on the engine
3)its not moving, the injection(at least factory) takes into account the ram air effect
4)potential for trans damage from having no load on the gears, things can bounce back and forth internally
5)his exhaust is loud as f*ck and i dont want to go deaf standing next to it with it at 14k, hell i dont want to stand next to it at 6k
