bike died at stop sign!!

so im on my way to the gas station and i stop at a stop sign and the buike shuts off. so i put it in neutral and crank it i couldnt get it to start again, im sitting there cranking it and its not starting. finally i pull on the throttle as I crank it and it starts up. any ideas what the problem may be? the bike still might have been kinda cold, but im pretty sure it was at least 145 (if that plays any relevancy). any input would be appriciated!

BTW its a 2001 honda CBR f4i

ALSO upon starting the bike from a cold start, its got a pretty random idle, hits about 3000 RPMs then goes back down then kinda jumps around a bit between 2.5k and 1k

My 954 would have starting/cutting out issues when the battery had a weak/low charge. Fully charge your battery and see if it fixes things.

As for your second symptom, my rpms would jump around when my hack wiring job started to come loose. Sure up any aftermarket connections as your second step to resolution.

"includes 10 used-car dealers or auto repair shops, 11 liquor stores and bars--two of which advertise lingerie fashion shows and a third billed as a "gentlemen's club"--three cut-rate motels and one trailer park. The squat, brick municipal building is next to a currency exchange and a few steps from an adult video store. The bars open at 10 a.m. and close at 6:30 a.m."

Ya well can't keep them ALL straight.

Missed the model of bike. These symptoms seem to fit, running out of gas. At least it didn't make a bad clunking sound and slam to a stop as an earlier post.

try it
opens whole new world
once ya get use to it
becomes more comphy
just rode to AZ like that
could sleep like that
go through chunks of ice n snow like that ha
to each their own
if had throttle lock n chin rest be perfect
the stable feeling from the kneeling position
put pads on n really use the pegs
can get underneath the power train
c/g dropped to just infront of the back wheel
its simple wrestling first position kata
more stable fighting stance leaning to the bike
not flailing about, under the bubble
way better mileage
go through the pouring rain sitting up then try this way use the gear to slow down
i want to build a bike like that u forced to sit that way change up the controls put them on the toes in back or modify my own
if u know ur gears 100% safer let off throttle n your slowing down all the weight across the bike if u wobble just rights it self
put my life on it before i'd be sitting up
it has its place sitting up does too
sorry off topic but my pic there so babbled^^

find ur self out there in the dark in the rain in the snow remember this might save your life

I don't know about that... It sounds like your piston recoil spring might need adjustment. I belive the 2001 cbr f4is had problems on the fifth and sixth cylinder.
I would make sure they also check the muffler bearings and look for the air bubble in the tank.

Also if you pressed the run button for more than 10.000 times the factory recommends to replace the work light installed inside the cylinders.

i had noticed the same thing on my F4i when i had it, and i asked around and was told that it was normal.

well the part where just after a start it would go higher in the idle RPMs and after 30-40 seconds it goes down to normal.
it's kind of like if you used a choke... first gen FI honda too...
