the dreaded click click click

Hi,

I am helping a friend in NYC who has a 1983 Honda CM250. She has been riding it all year and today, right when she got a buyer for it (she bought a Suzuki 500), she had a problem. She rode the bike to work and when she went outside to ride home, she got the dreaded click click sound. The lights and everything come on but, it won't turn over. She took the battery and stator out and took them home. She is charging the battery tonight and cleaning the stator connections. Any suggestions out there? Any diretion would be appreciated.

Thanks and ride safe,
Brian

I would put money on a dead battery. Those would be the first things to troubleshoot. She could clean the ground but I would bet thats not the problem.

Hahha. As long as there are 2 people to push it.

I'm thinking battery too. She is charging it tonight and trying again tomorrow. Maybe it just won't hold a charge and it will need to be replaced.

Thanks and ride safe,
Brian

+1 on battery. My CM200T and CM250C sounded just like that when they needed some juicy juice.

Everyone Exaggerates

We're being taken for a ride... agaaaaaaain.....

Forget trying to charge it. Just replace it. More than likely its 3-4 yrs old.

I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested.

You want answers from this crew? You know the drill. Must have pictures of the girl first. The better the pictures, the better the answers.

^^ My thoughts exactly, Gus. However, she probably took the rectifier/regulator, not the stator.

Either way, from the post, it sounds like a battery to me.
