'92 Ninja ZX6D Rear Hub question

I had a gap in my rear hub between the Hub and Rim. I took it apart to check out what the issue was and found that the bearing in the hub (1 in hub and 2 in rim) was completely blown apart and the ball bearings just fell out. I replaced the bearings with a brand new set from All Balls (props on the company name there...) which came with all 3 bearings as well as the seals for both sides.

After putting everything back together there is still a gap between the hub and the rim. I believe it is due to one of the spacers that is in there.

As shown on bikebandit here part number 42036 fits between the hub and the rim for what I can only imagine is to just keep the bearing from falling out of the rim. The spacer looks very similar to this one.

Has anyone else noticed this issue with their ninjas? Or is it quite possible that the guy before me replaced parts in the rear axle and used incorrect parts?

That I am not sure, I put everything back together the other day. I would have to take it apart to measure.
