Battery or regulator

After not riding the bike for a few days, the battery didnt have enough charge to turn over. It was easy to push, fired right up. Rode to work about 30 min. After work, fired right up. Rode home from work, again about 30 min. This morning went to start the bike, and once again didnt have enough charge to turn over. Fired right up after pushing.

Is this a battery or rectifier/regulator problem?

Replace one or the other or both?

If battery, best option (not most expensive)

Thanks

Well, that could be a waste of time and money. Regulators aren't cheap, but if you want to spend money on a guess, you can find them at the site that hosts that PDF.

http://www.electrosport.com/products...rs-rectifiers/

$109 for my VFR for example. Ouch.

i wasnt just going to go buy parts, I was hoping that the majority would point to one or the other, so I could start pricing out parts. This weekend I will be able to follow the diagram and test to determine a definitive answer. Then all I need to do is buy/order, since I'll have already sourced/priced the parts

get a multi meter

Check battery when you get home, voltage s/b > 13 volts after ride (generally about 13.6 or so).

Then

Check battery in morning, voltage s/b > 12.5 volts, if not battery not holding charge

Then

Start bike, see what voltage is at battery, s/b > 14. if not get a r/r

Following the PDF I posted will tell you all that without having to wait until the next day to find out if it is charging.
