Tech Day Feeler (Possible Dates Poll)

First off, there are only three non-conflicting dates in the next 6 weeks.

Post up below if you know about a conflict on these dates that we need to be worried about. We know about the Heartland Park CCS race, but that will only affect a few people.

March 31
No longer an option due to Eva's funeral

April 7
This one is the day before Easter. Does that create too much of a problem for folks?

May 12
Is that too far out?

All of the other weekends have track or race events.

Look forward to your thoughts.

BTW - Before anyone gets bent out of shape, I am seeking your thoughts and input as to what works best for most people. Greg and I reserve the right to pick any date, regardless of the vote. Votes may well affect the decision, but it is not the deciding factor.

Where would you host the event? I'm open to any day offered, provided work doesn't interfere (and those creeps find a way to make that happen a lot, but let's not go there).

Dante: [to Randal] You never go ass-to-mouth!
Randal: [to Dante] Would you grow up!
Becky: [to Dante] OK, I'm only telling you this because we're friends, but sometimes, in the heat of the moment, it's forgivable to go ass-to-mouth.
Randal: [chuckling] Ha! I knew it.

I voted next weekend, but Will try and make it any day you have it. I know I'll be on call for work the 7th and may 12, so all that means is I would have to leave if i get called into work.

I vote April 7th as the second option.

May 12 is getting farther into the season, but I'd still be up for it.

I'm always up for showing people how to break various parts of their bike.

Thank you for organizing this again Brian (and Greg)

I'd guess alot of people are like me, just appreciate the jesture and leave it to Brian and the group as to what works best for them and their families.

Brian pick the date that works best for you and the family (because they are greatly effected by this as well) and post up.

I look forward to the event every year.

Need to suggest removing this Saturday off the table. That's Eva's USA funeral in the am. Not sure how many people will be there.

...plus my gf was with me saying "omg slow down, slow down" and I was thinking "Lose annoying squalk box in passenger seat, afford more mods and have less weight in the car and on the back of the bike"...so i dumped her and I'm single again as usual...HERE KITTY KITTY!!!

Tech Day isn't about someone running demos of how-tos. Rather it's more of a community social gathering where we all wrench on our bikes collectively. There are many of us who have lots of mechanical knowledge and many of us who don't, but are willing to learn with guidance from the former.

I haven't been able to attend in recent years, but the last time I did, I needed to have my brakes bled. Not knowing how, I posted up and another member Drama, volunteered to help me out and show me the ropes. Once we were done with that, I wandered around and lended a hand with a few folks needing oil changes, which is one bit of maintenance that I knew how to do. Otherwise, I watched other folks doing other maintenance and learned a few things about tires and what not.

All in all, it's just a great day to come on out and learn and socialize. Even if you don't need anything done to your bike, come on out and meet others.

That sounds even better.

Hopefully by the time this event rolls around I won't need anything. Me and my buddy are changing my fork seals this weekend, replacing my brake lines, pads, and rotors, but I would love to walk around, meet some of you guys and see your rides of course. Although my experience is limited, I have had this bike apart on more than one occasion installing things I needed, so I feel like I could at least share my knowledge.

Thanks Ken. Looks like this weekend is off the table due to the funeral.

Related to my family, good news is that they are all GONE. Tina moved to DC, Steph is a Senior at Purdue, and Jenn and Jess are Sophomores at Kansas. No kids around anymore, just my wife. She happily LEAVES when the event happens every year, LOL!

I think we look to do it April 7th if weather is good. I would prefer to wait, but want this to happen before the first local track day happens. SO... that means April, not May. At least that is what I am thinking now.

Hope you can make it again, you seem to have made regular attendance last few years

Steve! Gloves! Oh yeah, forgot all about those. Well, you already know the festivities start getting fun once the bike work is done, so your timing will be perfect.

We have had a couple of pretty good electrical guys in the past help out, so who knows, we may be able to help with that. Problem with shorts is it pretty much comes down to a very methodical process of trial and error.

Beverages, Food and Ice are always the biggies. Once we nail a date (leaning towards the 7th), I'll do an event posting. Food, volunteers, registration, etc... will all be in that thread. Thanks for your offer, all is much appreciated!
