I am learning how to create an annual training plan based on "The Cyclist Training Bible" and his same principles transfer to any sport although my goals are all related to bike racing. I set 3 measuareable goals with training objectives and dates to reach them by, determined how many hours I will train this year, and set up each week from there. Every 4th week will be a recovery week training only 4hrs.
1) Finish in the top half of the field at a WORS mtb race in my class
June 26/27 Subaru Cup
2) Finish in the top 10 at the Fall Fling Crit
dates are still TBD but probably in sept.
3) Move up one catergory in skinny tire and fat tire racing
I want to be ready for this by Sept 1
To achieve these goals 300 hrs per year is my starting point for training. I have three main race limiters; endurance, climbing, and race strategy. With objectives to improve each.
1. Finish a sprint triathlon. This will actually be pretty easy for me, but last year was just to get in the pool and start swimming, so I'm making up for last year and doubling up.
2. Finish first in age group in a WORS Comp race. Not out of reach at all, especially this year, but who knows with how work is going to be.
3. Vague goal, but be much more aggressive in the hare scrambles this year. I will be going back to the "win or crash" attitude I had racing sportbikes.
1. Finish an Olympic triathlon
2. Be able to move up to sport class in WORS series respectfully
3. Finish a century ride
4. Finish top ten in one of the sprint tri's I'm doing
5. weigh in at 170 by May 23rd Xterra race day!

1. You can do that as long as you can swim it. If I do the sprint tri easily I will try the Olympic too.
2. That will be tough. Tough competition, and you will need to do a lot of MTB races this year then. If you are motivated and willing to do that I think you can do it.
3. Easy. Let's do one next month on a warmer day. I've actually never done one if you can believe that.
4. If there are a dozen people or less we can do it. :lmao:
5. Possible. Skinny ass cracka!
oops my bad, didnt notice what forum this was..SO on that note:
1.maybe drink less so my fat beer gut doesnt get bigger.
2. lay a little low on the coke this year so my blood pressure can stabilize on its own.
3.have my old lady wax the box more often to minimize the wear and tear on the o'l pecker.
4.try not to stare so much at chicks ass's when she is around, thats bad for my health in so many ways.
1. I'm getting back into swim classes in the next 2 weeks
2. This will be my hardest one, I know. Maybe unatainable, but I'll try
3. I was hoping you'd say that! After computrainer classes are over I'm game
4. I ment in my age group, and I may do another indoor which this is very possible in.
5. I really doubt I can do be a skinny ass cracka, but again, I'll try!!
Got a few goals this year
- Drop about 10 lbs in body fat
- Improve on cardio endurance
- Pay the bills off for the most part (except the bike that bill will take untill next year)
It is the easiest class, but it's still challenging. You will find out when you are walking hills and girls are passing you talking about shopping for shoes. :lmao:
get back down below 200 lbs and 6-8% BF before the heart of riding season
finish the Perry Mountain 24hr offroad race
consistent mid-pack finishes for SM
I know a guy who promotes kick boxing fights if you are interested. There is a fight this friday night at the Roadhouse in elgin at 7:30. His name is Jim Zibilski.
Keep gaining lean weight. I'm at 165lbs and hope to be touching 185lbs by this time next year. Damn, I'm a hard gainer though. I gained ~15lbs last year and still had single digit fat % as of last November.
Start more cardio. Actually, any cardio at all will be more than what I do now.
Haha, all of you want to be better at cardio, triathlons, keep weight down, etc.
I want to be bendier, more balanced, and stronger. I'd like to consistently be able to lift my body weight to do more arm stand poses in yoga like this:
Most of my current attempts cause laughter at the gym
And, I'd like to get over my hatred of being upside down. Next goal is to increase flexibility in full extension to be able to do this:
Hahaha right now I am comparing my little training ride from last year to Bostrom's stats in La Ruta de los Conquistadores race. I would love to add this race to a goal pretty soon.
Damn, If I lost 75lbs I'd be 135... you're fatter than I!!
