So click the little vote button......

On a funny little side note.....I was down here in Louisville 5 months until I realized that I lived a 100 feet away from Sen Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

I saw him last night driving his green, old Pontiac. It's funny because there is always a black suburban with 2 Secret Service guys outback when I walk the dogs in the mornings and he's home....saw them today.

When they were going back/forth on raising the debt ceiling all the major stations were saying that he was going to have a meeting with Obama over the weekend....I was like...Mmmmmm.....don't think so because dude is at home right across the street.....

And the money is pretty much the same among both parties. ie taxation as a percentage of GDP doesn't change a whole lot.

Yea, Maybe they should work harder and earn more then. We all should be taxed the same amount. Gives incentive for them to work harder and not be so content with living on the bottom rung absorbing everything that the other rungs pay for.

See how many of them want to be on social services when they actually have to foot the bill.

Statements like this obviously show how little you know about the bottom rungs. Not everyone is a sponge, not everyone who makes minimum wage does so out of choice. The economy sucks right now, sometimes sh*t happens and you can't help it. There are people out there who have a medical issue come up and puts them in the poor house.

There are plenty of people out there that don't deserve my tax dollars to support them, but there are those out there that do. You can't make a blanket statement that all people in a certain class are there by choice, life doesn't work that way.

Jordan he's talking a flat 17% tax on income.

Only 49% of the population pays any tax.....

U.S. Corporations are taxed at 35%...one of the highest in the world. That's why they've moved their companies to Zug, Switzerland or Ireland, to a P.O. Box basically, where they are taxed between 15-20%.....zero tax dollars going to the U.S. Flat tax rate will bring those companies back here and hugely simplifies the tax codes and loop holes.

Here's the problem I have....I understand some people are poor and need help...I've got no problem with that. However...when you have generations of folks with no desire to work and get a check every month from the govt, along with free health care for their entire family, why should we have to foot the bill because you're lazy? Get off your arse and get a job!

Another huge complaint is Obama wanting to tax more on the small business' who make up a large portion of the business market....do you think taxing me more is going to stimulate the economy? No...I'm going to layoff all of my employees, move to a smaller location, let you tax me more and then pack up and move to KY....how's that working for you Mr. Taxhappy Chicago? Business' are barely holding on right now and taxing us more just continues to paralyze the economy....most of you on here that don't own a business are making a LOT more money than us that do. Taxing businesses more just makes them move to like IN where they can survive and generates less $$ for I.E. Cook County.

Ken, feel free to chime in on how well you love getting taxed to death in Cook County I feel your pain brother!

Flat income tax. And the theory there is that flat taxes encourage economic growth, economic growth creates jobs, job creation produces wealth and income, wealth and income raise a minimum wage family to a middle class family.

This, to me, is currently the absolute fundamental difference between conservatives and liberals. Conservatives believe that money should be left in the hands of individuals and that capitalism and market economics should drive wages and income. Liberals believe that a larger portion of individual earnings should be with held and spent by the government to support lower wage earners.

when you give someone money, constantly for years on end, they lose the motivation to actually get anything done. people here want to say "no no that will never happen"

hell i was on unemployment for 6-8 weeks, and by the end of it, i didn't to go back to work, i had the government giving me checks that was enough to cover living expenses.. why should i go back to work?

I don't know what to believe and I don't involve myself enough to sift through all the political bullshit. At flat income tax is borderline retarded.

A flat sales/consumption tax (with exemptions for the first $150K of mortgage on first house, medical care, and necessticies (fruits veggies crap like that)).

Your complaint about people milking the system is a different complaint than the taxes. No matter what system is in place people will take advantage of it.

Personally, I would get rid of SS and continuing paying out until the running runs out.

I would start Loki's Government Housing. It would look a lot like the army's housing, with the army's food, and their regiment. If you eat and drink on the government - you wake up at 5AM and building a retaining wall or go for a run. Your kids are required to go to school - everyone does drug testing and everyone eats government cheese. During this period when its too dark for manual labor its class time where you get trained either get your GED or some technical skills.

The wealthier are getting wealthier - so this obviously isn't the case. People making money are not packing it up and going home.

i think you need to spend more time with the bottom rungs. i have to deal with some these people on a daily basis. trust me they are going no where. even when they are fully capable. things like the newest cell phone, or new shoes are more important to them then doing the right thing.
