The reason this site is so popular is because what it has grown into. I love the fact that I can come on here with my fellow motorcyclists and talk about darn near anything we like, as long as it is in the proper sub forum. If we police ourselves properly and keep the subject material where it belongs it will help. There will always be people out there that will try and ruin things for their own self entertainment.
That is one way of looking at it. The other way is that it can't just continually get worse around here. At some point, the monkeys need to be reigned in.
Personally, I post less and less on here, and read less and less on here as it continues in a downward spiral.
How about a high quality forum, with people that are focused on helping each other, sharing knowledge, and learning from others opinions?
Guess that is too much to ask for lately.
Is not that its become PC all of the sudden, although it may seem like that to some, especially if you've only been here a year or two. after 11 years of running this forum its actually just a cycle that the site goes through. Usually its brought on by winter and cabin fever and it comes in stages. Every spring we get an assload of new members, as they become more comfortable and get to know people over the summer, everyone becomes friends, then winter hits, we all get bored, some people become a little more outspoken then some people become even more outspoken and limits keep getting pushed, till a mod gets sick of some members complaining about it. Then when action is taken it seems we are getting all PC, and we are told people just need to get a thicker skin, when in reality we are not we are just reigning it back in to what it normally is and what we expect of our membership. Which is mutual respect for all members. if you wanna get raunchy or start a bunch of drama, that's what the Hole is for, its the exact reason we made it. If all that drama is started out in the open you scare away new members, which basically kills the site, as every year some of you drop off into new hobbies, or go start your own sites when you get pissed about our sudden supposed PC-ness. You wouldn't believe the list of names I could rattle off that most of you have never heard of, just because the site has progressed over the years and people move on.
It's just about the Golden rule people.
And as far as the staf not riding as much any more, sure that's true to a point, but hey I've been riding for over 20 years, right now I have a new business and a family to support, if one of you has a nice bike to donate to me to ride, I'd be happy to show up at more events. Life changes people. I think the fact that we still take time out of our lives to run a site this big and support this community should be taken into account for something.
