Vote for governor.

So who's it going to be for you? Man it sucks having to pick the lesser of two evils all the time. Though in this case I don't really know who is!

This is one of those time I am lucky not to be a citizen because you are screwed either way you vote. At least I can still bitch about it and no one canít tell me to stop just because I didnít vote. Can we get some real options here or are we always going to be stuck with some douche bag that thinks his willie is bigger just because he got voted in?

i think it's sad... we have a green party candidate that has some really solid ideas. granted he would get even less done then the last two screw ups given that the house and senate vote along party lines, but still, I agree that Topenka is scary, and Blago being anti gun and robbing from the MSF funds promised that I will not vote for him, nor will I vote for any member of the madigan family.

the point I am trying to make is this. 13 people (as of this posting) are NOT voting, if slightly better then half of those people actually DID vote, and they all voted the same way, you could actually beat the other two people. instead people would rather NOT vote... thats truely sad

Whitney has some good ideas.... however being from Carbondale, how can he run on a platform of "green" energy. He would destroy many coal jobs that keep a lot of people in southern Illinois employed.

The other thing that bothers me is his stand on peotone, but then again, he probably is the lesser of 4 or 5 evils.

From what I understand, its because they want to build a corn E85 fuel refinery in southern IL which would be awesome for that area.

I must have zoned out at that part....it would be great....if E85 were worth it. It's really a terrible answer for this climate, I know people that had about 15 or so E85 trucks and had to run gasoline in them during the winter because they wouldn't start with E85. Bio-Diesel is a much better alternative fuel. But I suppose that's another topic all together.....

At least he's not trying to take my guns or increase my FOID fee to some insane amount.

But as always, what they say now and what they do in office is always completely different.

I will vote for Topinka. She will fight to bring gaming to Chicago. That will bring back the convention business that Chicago has been steadily losing to Vegas, Atlanta and other areas. Big bucks for the businesses of Chicago and the surrounding areas. It will also bring lots of jobs which is always good. Sure there is the arfument of more crime, but more crime means even more jobs for people who prevent and fight crime.

Topinka is a real down to earth person. She drinks in local bars and shops at the Jewel on Pershing and Harlem. She has a real middle class/ blue collar mentality. Even though she may be scary to some, she gets my vote. My mom knew her way back in the day, before politics, moms said she was a bitch, but kept it real, she was at my moms funeral.

I'm strongly leaning toward writing in Randy Stufflebeam of the Constitution Party (www.runrandyrun.com). I was considering giving Topinka the benefit of the doubt as the lesser of two evils, but when she came out in favor of a casino in Chicago, I just basically asked myself what difference there was between her and "Blago..Blago...Smith" aside from parental notification and some second amendment issues (sorry, Dr. D).

As for second amendment issues, I live in Chicago, so for me the top priority would be to overturn the ban on registering handguns, and I saw on Stufflebeam's website that he will call for the removal of the "subject to police power" clause from the Illinois Constitution, which is one of the things that props up the local anti-handgun ordinances.

A "write in" is a wasted vote. What's that individual going to get. One to four percent of the votes. . . maybe?! Do your homework and make an educated choice. Your vote may be the one that helps keep the crap out.

That said, I'm voting for Topinka.

What has he actually accomplished with regards to gun bans and do you think the .50 calibers should be untouched and unregulated?

He hasn't accomplished anything. . . yet. But he's trying. (He's a friend of Daley. . . and that mo-fo needs to go too! !)

.50 calibers should absolutely be untouched and unregulated! How many crimes have they been involved in? None that I'm aware of. . .

The ability to own a weapon that can go through any vest and hard target from over a milie away should be unregulated and untouched?

If we're so scared about terrorists here in the US what's to keep many of them from obtaining them and deciding to fire off some rounds at refineries, chemical storage facilities, air force one, other aviation traffic from a hotel room, etc? Leave them unregulated and untouched and take the wait and see approach?

We definitely have a difference of opinion on that one.

What's one legitimate use a civilian needs with a weapon like a barrett that can't be accomplished with any other gun?

That's not the only reason they are leaving, the convention centers and their unions charge insane amounts of money for setup, disassembly, and just having a space in their shows. They also hold the convention organizers to long drawn out contracts requiring them to stay for 10-20 years. That's more of a local issue than a lack of gambling.

Who is the deciding authority to deem who can have a 50 cal and who shouldn't.

By your rationale, we should all be riding 250 nighthawks...theyr'e capable of doing the maximum speed limit, and what do you need a high powered CBR for anyway?
