To Superbowl or not to Superbowl ...that is the question

Was it better to have gotten there and lost, rather than not gotten there at all?

Personally, I would have rather them not make the superbowl. If you are going to go all the way, seems to sting a bit more that you couldnt put the final nail in .... I would be steaming if I were the Saints ...maybe they could have taken the Colts down?

I feel a little bit of both, glad they made it there, but it does sting more to know you were so close. Also, history shows us that most superbowl losing teams don't return to the superbowl the next year

recent history maybe. But if you go back even into the 90's look at teams like the Vikings, and the bills. Both teams made it several times without ever winning.

The Vikings played in the last of their four Super Bowls appearances in 1977.

If they didn't take part in the Herschel Walker trade, maybe they would have had some Super Bowl appearances in the 90s. We'll never know and maybe is a huge word. Instead the Cowboys got many of the draft picks that they used to build their 3 Super Bowl Champion teams in the 90s.

I say playing "just the tip" is okay by me. I mean, shit, when was the last time we even made an impressive post-season run? Especially with a QB who was so new? I'm happy with the results, and I'm definately not going to be one of those Rex-haters who say "Even though it was his first full year...and even though he went 13-3...and even though he brought us to the Super Bowl...and all the other shit, he still messed up and he sucks and all that bullshit...I'm sick of hearing people say that the Bears should have gone with a different QB, because no matter what anybody says, Rex Manning brought us to the Superbowl. So did Lovie Smith, and everybody else that was part of the TEAM...They are a team, and they made it...start showing some love for Rex, because he helped us get to a place we haven't seen in 21 years, and even though we didn't win, he at least brought us hope...Just the tip boys...just the tip

If it brought enough attention to the fact that we need to get rid of lovey, hopefully they finally do something about it now. We need a coach who isn't afraid to kick his guys int he ass, or kick them out the door if they are not performing. Hell most business's are run stronger than the bears coaching staff. If any one of us failed 1/10th as much at work as Rex does, we would be walked out the door.

I wish we had Rex Manning, that guy sounds awesome. We'll see if Rex matures next year. If he's still making the same mistakes we have a problem. I would like to see Turner gone, he's running the Junior High equivalent of a football offense. No shotgun, no trick plays.... can I even get a fricken end around.

How about a no huddle? Is Rex even allowed to audible? What about a QB roll out or moving pocket, Rex is short give him some space? Every defense knows exactly what the Bears are going to do on offense. It's a wonder they get stopped and Rex looks like shit.

Just FYI,

The team that won has a coach who's style is opposite of what you propose.

I can't believe you think Smith isn't a good coach, this boggles my mind.

better get used to him, he's going to get a FAT contract. Rightfully so.

Rex is obviously still green and wet behind the ears. They got outplayed.

I'm baffled too, you're saying that a coach and QB who got a team to the Superbowl suck? Guess what? There's only 1 other coach and QB who got their team to the Superbowl this year, and they're not about to jump ship to Chicago.

Glad the Bears made it to the Superbowl....I watched exactly three games this year....the superbowl and the NFC game...knew from the performance they gave at the NFC game...there would be no ring for the Bears...actually I wasn't to impressed by the Colts in their AFC game...but the Bears thought it would be 1986 all over again...and it's not even the same caliber of team. But with all that said....you think that the Hawks had lost the Cup or something

Sometimes goodbye is your second chance.

All the players do not need to be motivated like that. They are at the highest levels of their game so yelling and screaming is not going to do a thing.

The middle linebacker had a much worse game than the QB did.

Tha Ancient Spartans used to like watching their enemies get all fired up and angry befor a battle because they knew it was false and they would just wait out the initial rush and then slaughter them.
