Cant say it will affect my life any more than the bowel movement I have brewing right now. I hate baseball.

no wait, sell it for a mint then cry myself to sleep knowing that america's pastime is no longer baseball and the sport is a shell of it's former self. When does football season start?

It will happen. And it's still a milestone, roids or not, 756 home runs isn't easy. I'm not going to have a 756 party or anything, but if it's on TV, i'll watch the game. Actually, i'll be watching the giants tonight on ESPN. But Bonds is still an a-hole, regardless of what happens.

If he was clean than 756 would actually mean something but he's just a piece of shit for juicing himself, hope his liver/kidneys fail(s) because of it

It would be nice if they banned players completely for being on the juice.

even more so then the Juice have you guys ever seen what a baseball used to look like. Not only did they use the same ball forever but the leather wasn't as tight on the core so it didn't travel nearly as far as today's baseballs do. A lot of home runs that are hit today wouldn't have made it with the old school balls that some of the home run records were set with.

Random thoughts...

The league is too big and thus pitching talent is watered down with pitchers that have no right sniffing a major league team.

The ballparks are way smaller than they used to be. Look at left field in the Astros' stadium. Many of these players can almost throw a home run from home plate.

Bud Selig is a puppet for the owners. He knew a huge percentage of MLB players were juicing but turned a blind eye in the name of Baseball's Rebirth. Now he's acting all morally above this whole HR chase. Fuck him.

The owners couldn't possibly care less if every single player on their team was juicing as long as the tickets are selling. Sure, they'll say they want to clean it up, but they're not fooling anyone.

Barry Bonds was on the fast track to the Hall of Fame before 1998. If he kept at his then-current pace, he'd have finished as an all-time great. If he didn't take steroids (knowingly or otherwise), he would have at least been respected as a supposedly clean player (everyone is under suspicion) along the lines of Ken Griffey Jr, Tony Gwynn, Frank Thomas, etc- as dickheaded as he (Bonds) tends to be.

My point is, Barry Bonds could have gone down in history has one of the greatest players EVER without the supplements. He got greedy and joined in Sammy Sosa's, Mark McGwire's, et al fun. On Sosa's best day, he wasn't in the same universe as Barry Bonds and Bonds knew this. Sosa was getting the publicity and the numbers and Bonds couldn't handle that. Bonds has the Gold Gloves and stolen bases to prove his all-around, once-in-a-generation greatness.

Sadly, at one point in time Barry Bonds was my favorite player since I was like 12 years old (I'm 30 now). Now I'm largely apathetic about anything regarding him. It's a weird, yet all too familiar feeling of sadness and betrayal.

Not that it matters in the case of this discussion, but I don't think he cares that nobody likes him. I've never heard him wonder why he's largely unliked.

Zerogta, I agree with you all the way. Parks are smaller and Barry was a great young player until he started juicing.

I believe innocent until proven guilty but the difference in his size is unnatural.

It'll all be moot once A-Rod breaks the new record anyway. The guy is 33 and has 499 homers so its just a matter of time. Plus that will have an asterisk next to it saying...... *300 of those homers while married to a crazy ass woman.

I't s gona be another 30yrs before someone breaks that record so why not cheer him on. It's like alot of Cubs fans hate sammy sosa. Hes one of my fav players even though hes not as good of a player like he used to be. You can call him strikeout king but he did alot with the cubs and every homer he hit was bad azz. 2003 NLCS bottom of the 9th, 2 outs,3 balls-2 strikes sosa on the plate, smacks a homer to win game 3 . PRICELESS!

He testified in front of a Grand Jury that he used a steroid cream. That makes him guilty of use.

I won't even go into Sammy whose personal valet/ trainer got stopped in Sammy's car with lots of exciting chemicals.

+1

Also pitcher mounds are higher, taller more powerfull pitchers, faster fastballs and that also helps balls jump out of the park. Steroids or not, it still take contacting the ball right to send one out of the park. Hitting a 95mph fastball isnt as easy as people think.

Hell even Babe Ruth and alot of the other legends from that era wernt exactly saints either. Quite a few alcoholics, couple did coke (before it was illegal), some smoked heavily. Also they played less games per year than they did when Aaron broke Ruths record.

Should mention I havent cared much for baseball after the 94 strike.

Make it less than ten years. Someone mentioned it earlier, look at A-rods #'s. This man is a machine and HE WILL break the record if he stays healthy.

Key word If he stays Healthy. A-rod Is over rated. He has 257hrs to break that record. Can he stay healthy and do it? NOPE!

I don't keep up with sports much at all (except for bike racing) but people must realize that steroids do not make you a superstar athlete. You have to have the talent to begin with. All steroids do is allow your body to grow past what your genetics will allow it to do naturally. And even this is not promised if you do not train hard and diet right. HGH and steroids cannot make a person hit a ball better or increase your hand/eye coordination. They simply allow your torn down muscle to heal up quicker thus build faster.
It's like saying that if you were given the type of bike Rossi or Stoner has you would be able to ride as well as them too. Dumb and incorrect statement.

Your right the average person wont be able to hit a pitch any better but if you are already good which bonds was then that makes him super human.

It would be like giving Rossi a Nitrous bottle on his bike. Same great rider now he has an unfair edge.

The only record that will never be broken will be Cy Young's 712 wins

I really don't care, but I think it would be funny if every time he went to bat, the pitcher should intentionally walk him

Look, I can appreciate this. I was young too, I felt just like you. Hated authority, hated all my bosses, thought they were full of shit. Look, it's like they say, if you're not a rebel by the age of 20, you got no heart, but if you haven't turned establishment by 30, you've got no brains. Because there are no story-book romances, no fairy-tale endings. So before you run out and change the world, ask yourself, "What do you really want?"
