sry if this is in the way...but i neeed to back up my short essay on here for school bc bess blocks yahoo mail and not this site

So no comments on how bad this is, in case it sucks!...done at 10:30 just so i get my points lol

Montesquieu was a innovator in the ideas of government. He thought that government during his time was imperfect for one very simple reason: people were not virtuous. Even if a king were to be virtuous, his sons vying for the throne would surely not be, or their descendants. In any government, power and greed overcome most any virtue of those who are ambitious for power. Even in any type of government then available, he thought that all had imperfections.
The current governments that Montesquieu thought existed were: republican, monarchical, and despotic. He thought that because in a despotic government the ruler has absolute power, that even if it were to have a virtuous leader, once he died it would crumble. Monarchies gave the king the power of the executive and judicial branch, so none could keep the king in check except by the laws passed by the legislative branch. Therefore he proposed a system of government that split all three of the branches apart to keep each other branch in check, so that no one could rule absolutely. Just as a tripod can stand firmly on uneven ground, so could his ‘tripod’ government system.

Edit: please dont delete until after 12pm tomarrow at least lol thx

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

He's also good at spelling. With my batchelor's degree though, I am not.

(this comment references posts in another thread, so it may not be humourous to all parties).

I spent 2 years as a Mec. Eng. major and I hated it. The only classes I liked were history and english classes. I was pretty good at writing. I did a term paper on the differences between the land and space fights going on during the Battle of Endor. I got an "A" for that one.
