Post Harley Shootout 06-16-04 @ GLD

John's been suggesting that I start bringing the V-Rod to Da Grove for the Wednesday night "Harley Shootout" bracket races.

So I did.

There was no rain.

There were 19 bikes in our class.

John's Sportster went out the first round because of a mechanical.

I made it 4 rounds to the semi-finals and came home with a check for $106.00.

Between 7:30 and 9:30 I made a total of 12 passes. Um... I think I got my money's worth!

I think I'll go back next Wednesday.

Payout to the winner was something like $300. I'm putting together a spreadsheet with my stats... At first glance, the data is pretty consistent... MPH right around 111, times in the 12:30's. Best light was .089. Best 60' was 1.957. Lots of room to improve.

John says that the bike, under optimal conditions in its' current setup, should run 12:00's... possibly very high 11's.

Last night I was pretty much just screwin' around, but it got me to thinking.

I'd love to throw a quick-turn throttle, air shifter and chain drive conversion on her, just for the hell of it!

About a year ago, I saw one at 66 make it into the high 10's. It had a chain conversion so I guess it was geared for the track. Other than that, it looked quite stock but you can never really tell.

I've started a spreadsheet...

Best reaction time: .089 (the first pass)
Best 60': 1.957 (on the third pass. I'm so lame!)
Best ET: 12:29 (my dial-in was 12:30, so glad this didn't happen in a race!)
Best MPH: 112.07 (the second pass)

I've started a spreadsheet to track all this stuff. Here are the average #'s, both inclusive and exclusive of the race rounds (it's bracket racing, and I had to 'pace myself' against the competitors - not running "all-out" passes... which kind of skews the numbers).

Average for the event (practice times only):

R/T: .0313
60': 2.115
330': 5.393
1/8: 8.087
MPH: 91.106
1000': 10.437
1/4: 12.455
MPH: 111.139

Overall average performance:

R/T: 0.313
60': 2.105
330': 5.385
1/8: 8.083
MPH: 90.552
1000': 10.481
1/4: 12.550
MPH: 108.292

Numbers across the board...

12:316/111.410
12:403/112.070
12:677/100.750 (race)
13:268/91.470 (race)
12:358/106.570 (race)
12:656/111.600 (race)
12:229/111.910
12:607/111.110
12:525/110.700
12:497/111.110
12:714/109.560
