Well, I sure had a good time!

Carl was feeling 'under the weather', so John came up on his 'Busa and met me at the track.

Got 3 rounds of practice in beforehand... eliminations started at 8:30. I made it to the second round... cut a better light than my opponent but he pulled ahead... I caught him at mid-track and got in front but slowed her down just a tad too much at the big end - he had the better finish. So essentially, I beat myself by thinking too much. RATS! This is what happens when you try to over-engineer the rock...

On the other hand, I cut a new "personal best" light: .022 (Yeah, still a long way to go - but I'm hacking away at it!)

Weather was great - started out warm, temps dropped after the sun went down, making for a GREAT ride home. There were 19 bikes in the MONEY class (seems to be pretty close to that every week), three bikes in TROPHY and none in NOVICE. Pretty good mix of Softails, Sportsters, Road Kings and Dynas.

In between rounds, there was open "test and tune"... saw six Hayabusas, a late-model Gixxer, a GS1100 dragbike with a really beautiful 'Busa body, a late-70's vintage Japanese dragbike and a stunning Kawi in blue and chrome... along with the usual assortment of dragsters, muscle cars and imports. John made a few passes... loafing around in the 10's at about 135 mph. The announcer had that "Thunder Roads" article in his pocket... after the rider's meeting, EVERYBODY knew who I was. (silly people!) Got some good "plugs" in for my sponsors, so it was all good.

I think I'm tied with Carlos for 8th place now. Gotta keep pluggin'!

We'll be going back again next Wednesday night - and EVERY Wednesday night this month!

Spectator admission is $12, which gives you full access to the pit area.

Novice class and time runs are $25.00

Trophy class is $30.00

MONEY class (80% payout!) is $35.00

If you go thru the traps at over 120 mph, you need full leathers (jacket/pants work fine).

Great report Kimmie! I know it's not roadracing, but it's fun.

Pardon my ignorance, but you race the 'Rod, right?

I gotta get up there one of these nights for a test n tune...Haven't gotten the R6 out there yet...

Yeah, it's the 'Roddy

And it's definitely nowhere near as fun as a road course... but it's still racing - and the people are a hoot, too!

Rachel - you should come up on the Sporty and get in the $$$ class!!! All it takes is consistency!

just keep working it and it will come down.. it seems to get better every time you post.

also.. since your last time up there and we were talking about the lights.. i talked to the people at the grove.. and the amber lights (except stageing lights) are now LED's which will light up faster than a standard bulb, but the Green is still a conventional bulb.. so it really messes with your r/t if your used to the old style.

Yeah, I saw your post on the GLD forum

It does make things different... now my brain has to work even FASTER

I've also managed to "soften" up my launch so it's not bogging like hell... but my 60's are still abysmal. I've been told that going to a 28-tooth pulley in the front will clean up that BLUGHHHHH coming off the line. Damn I hate that clutch!

Averages after 37 passes:

R/T: 0.271
60': 2.227
330': 5.547
1/8: 8.242
MPH: 91.027
1000': 10.599
1/4: 12.621
MPH: 110.600

Personal bests:

R/T: 0.022
60': 1.957
330': 5.214
1/8: 7.894
MPH: 93.200
1000': 10.211
1/4: 12.273
MPH: 112.690

The bike is stock. We've drilled out the exhaust and thrown on a Power Commander but have not done any mapping. I've been told that high 1.8's are as much as can be expected with the stock setup.

hahah, does anyone with a 500CC ever come out and make some passes? I think it would be fun, but wouldn't want to be that guy everyone was like...what the hell?? .... Granted, I ride for myself and not really worried about looking cool (hence, the 500 beginner bike purchase), but the track is a different story haha!

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

LOL, i'd totally race some cars or other lower end bikes hahaha. The way I see it, I could probably do some 14's...well optimally. which is a pretty decent match against most cars (well stock at least =D) Don't worry, I won't represent for CLSB unless I win... hahaha ... Either way, win or lose it would be fun just to open the bike up a bit.. Well, after a few hundred more miles (damn break in periods)
