I haven't tryed dragracing on my bike.....yet but I have been doing it quite a bit on 4 wheels. I might give it a shot this year though.

Here is the complete schedule:

Are bikes only allowed to race on 2 wheel speed days or can we go on any T&T

Everyone needs a healthy way to relax, mine Church, and two wheels, a stretch of winding road, and a pipe loud enough to give me headaches and make squirrels explode. (Fixed curtousey of PWRMAD)

Nothing is impossible the second we say ill try your already admiting you can be defeated, and the second you say i cant or its to hard youve already failed.

I've only been to Byron one time (I prefer GLD) but I seem to remember bikes running on the T&T days. They would run cars for a while then the bikes would run. I know that's how GLD does it.

Been quite awhile since I drag raced...back in the late 80's/early '90's I would go to the Grove...the only thing that bothered mewas during time runs they would pair you up with a car...that, to me is potentially dangerous. Do they still do that at the Grove? Do they do that at Byron?

"Dirt is for racing on...Asphalt is for getting there" OR "Flat trackers go in deeper and come out harder... OR (With apologies to General MaCarthur) "Old motorcycle racers never die, they just slip off the groove and fade into the dust!

GLD doesn't either.

I may and do it both ways sometime this year. I've never really worked at a hard launch on my bike though so I need to work on it before I take it to the strip and make a fool of myself.

never done a actuall draged on a bike or done a really hard laungh on my nike before eaither but i figure the best and safest way to learn is to go and do it, im going to try and do as many drags and T&T this year as possible

I would suggest learning to launch at the track rather than doing on the street...here is why...

the track has a very well prepared launch pad if you will Your street tires will grip that as if you were using Velcro. If you learn to launch it on the street first you may have muscle memory and may be giving it a bit too much gas to start with, or not using the clutch how you should...this can very easily lead you to a nice situation of you being the fool who just flipped his bike at the start line. I have seen this happen, and every time i swing by their pit to check on them, or see the bike, they always say, "well i launched just like i do every time i race someone on the street, I don't know what happened, i just went over" It's usually something along thous lines. Just my we're not pros here so just go have fun, that's what i do. I could only manage 12.0-12.3 @123-125 most of the day on my bike...and that is slow for mine, but hey I come home after I do it too

you have a stock wheelbase 600 i'm assuming. you can most likely launch on the street the same as the track. when i used to streetrace my 636 i had a pirelli sc-1 on it, just riding to the "race spot" put enough heat in the tire where i didnt have to do a burnout and the bike would dead hook.

should be fine with what you said you have, but it may depend on how fast or quick you go and how strict they want to be that day.

I think even test and tune follow IHRA rules. I think those state if you go quicker than 10.99 or faster than 120 you need pants and a jacket, but it may not need to be full leather. Nylon may be fine ,and they usually want it to zip together if it is not one piece.

Always need gloves, and shoes or boots that cover the ankle. Helmet must be Snell/DOT certified...snell 90 I think.

If you are just there to make some time runs they probably won't care too much, but I know at Union Grove they will warn you know you need Leathers if you go faster than 120 and aren't wearing them, Byron maybe not as strict.
