Land speed record trials

There is Maxton AFB in NC, and of course the Bonneville flats. Is there a place in Illinois/Wisc/Indi/Mich/Iowa where people attempt land speed trials?
I have a '87 Yamaha SRX250 (single) that I have bored out a little, jetted and lightened a bit for this intention. I even have pending sponsorship. It also has lights so I can street it if I want.

Just curious. Thanks.

Thanks. But actually, I was looking for legit club of some sort, if anyone knew of one. Where they have access to an old runway or closed off straight flat course for windtunnel tested, prototype, modified and stock vehicles of all sorts.
That kinda thang.

Good luck.

I thought Colorado had a top speed shootout once a year. I know it was somewhere west. Don't know if it still happens.
