One thing you should try. I know this from Experience and from reading about it.

The SV 650 has a nasty mouse trap in between 1st and 2nd.

Thats how I blew 2nd gear on one of my SV's from shifting with the front wheel up from 1st to 2nd.

Try getting the front wheel up in 2nd and shifting to 3rd.

Looking good man!

i clutch it up in second anyways so no worries about blowing a gear, i dont have it up long enough to start thinking about shifting

Good idea about 2nd gear!

Try standing up and just bouncing it up, then blip the throttle a little bit without using the clutch and shift to 3rd

Nick, he's not on a 1000 cc In-line 4, or a 600 cc bike with a wheelie bar, you have to shift gears on the little twin to ride a "longer" wheelie.
