Power or Clutch?

ok.. this topic has been brought up again last night.. i would like the low down on wheelies... stunta's speak up!

Power wheelies?

Clutch wheelies?

Question #2:

How do u clutch it up on 2nd on a CBR 600rr? My bike likes to stay put... it's a pretty heavy bike (for a 600)...
i've checked other forums and would like a better "view" of doing the wheelies..

on a side note.. i'm not looking to be a stunta.. but would like to do some nice wheelies..

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

I don't know for sure but I think it'll come up without the clutch if you bounce it just right in second. Ask PJ (Crazeinc) He'd know. I like to power them cause they come up a lot smoother. If you got a bike with a twitchy throttle that makes a big diff.

either way you'll need to learn to bounce on the pegs and compress the suspension right before you clutch it or power it. It takes some practice but once you get the hang of it they come up easy.

hey flip. this is how i've been doing them on my brothers 98 cbr 600. get out of first go onto 2nd at about 7k to 8k rpm stand up lean forward for a sec take that sec to slow down just a littlbit pull the cluth in hit the throttle let the clutch out lean back a little cover the back brakes it does come up real quick hold the throttle where it is and use the back brake to slow down and let it go to keep it up the throttle stays on the whole time if you wanna do a good one redline comes up fast though . it gets pretty loud so get a good spot todo this on (BACK BRAKES ARE ESSENTIAL) so you dont get bucked off. im still trying to learn on switching gears wothout letting it down in the high revs. oh yeah make sure you've got descent sliders and gear before you do any of the shit. twisted wrist and ankles are hurt like crazy.

thats my .02 cents

I won't do power wheelies anymore. They start off slow and sneak up on you really fast once the front tire goes airborn which can lead to some nasty stuff if you're not ready for it. Tony's right, a nice little 2nd gear clutch up to the balance point is the easiest way to have a lot of fun. Sure it'll come up faster with the clutch, but that's the whole idea...you get to the balance point at a slower speed and then it's not quite as dangerous.

To clutch up the 600 in 2nd, get going about 40mph, pull in the clutch, give it plenty of gas, and quickly release the clutch, but you gotta stay on the gas. With close to stock gearing on the F3 I had to be upwards of 11k rpm to clutch in it 2nd, the RR would take a lot less rpm to get it up I imagine.

To be honest, you can read shit from 100 people online but it won't sink in until you just start trying different stuff. Go find a vacant piece of asphalt and have fun Just wear your gear and hit the back brake if it comes too far over.
