It was and may still be. If you check around you will see used ones pop up here and there.

RS50's were for sale for years.. THink my buddy Mark still has one.. THey are fun.. but.. a bit slow to get going...

Granted I am a big guy.. but when I test road one years ago I was flintstoning it to get it going...

I hear stock out of the box they'll do 70ish with a light rider... I got 50 out of it... but it sounded like I was raping a weed whacker (he had a pipe on it..) funny thing is.. this was 99 or 2000.. and I was riding thru cabrini green... SHould have saw the looks I got

They have an 80cc hop up kit.. a rs50 with that kit is something I have always wanted to add to the collection... Its legally a scooter as well...

I wanted to get one for the wife to learn on.. Went with a Buell Blast instead..

btw.. they were about 3500-4k new -- probably looking around 2k used

are they street legal? I mean the thing only has 50cc's... is there enough power to get around? Obviously they can do it overseas but I'd imagine it's only for put puttin around town... or am I wrong? I'd love to take one for a spin to see just how much 50cc's can crank out. Lookin at the tach it looks like lotsa fun, revs to high hell!

It's a 49cc 2 stroke...
It is legally a scooter...
That said it is 3/4 size of a small sportbike...
and it has 6 gears...

Runs around 250lbs or a bit less

One of my former coworkers has an RS-50. Its street legal, hell you don't even need an M class. A Class D (for your car) will suffice to ride an RS-50 since the engine is so small. If they weren't so expensive ($2000-$3000) and hard to find I'd consider getting one.
