New Ohio Speed Rules

You may, or may not, have heard that Ohio's Supreme Court has ruled that a traffic officer can site you for speeding on visual observations alone, without the use of radar. The decision is based on the training that law enforcement must undergo and the expertise they develop in the area of traffic enforcement.

So, while you might not be in Ohio often - maybe just for a trip to Cedar Point, be prepared.

"For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, 'He has a demon.' The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Here is a glutton and a drunkard..."

The first turn is the worst turn, between the left ear and the right one.

I think this could be easily beaten but the hassle of traveling back or getting a lawyer just isn't worth going through.

However, I have been ticketed in IL for this same thing so don't think they are alone over there cause it can happen here too.

I spend a lot of time in Ohio for work. They've actually been worse than WI about ticketing speeders for a while.

Got a ticket in a rental Hyundai Accent last year on my way to the office. Shit, I was impressed that the car even got up to 80mph, so I was disappointed to lose all my momentum when I got pulled over. Anyway, peeps at the office said that they'll pull you over for going less than 5 over, and that in general they're kind of pricks about it. There's no reciprocity of information so I just paid the ticket. ($160? So the fine was less than WI for the same ticket... ummm... not that I would know or anything.)

On the other hand, going topless in public in Cbus is legal. (Not that I'm going to be doing that anytime soon.)

The less than five over usually happens in a municipal area and it's the local police that do it, not the Ohio Highway Patrol. The good news is the Ohio Supreme Court also ruled that local speed traps, where the highway speed suddenly drops from 65 MPH to 55 or 50 MPH so that city, town, or village can drive revenue, is illegal.

Total BS. I'm sorry but no amount of training can tell me how fast I am going and be within 5mph. That's just an asshat way of making money.

I'll stay in my own screwed up state

I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin', and hook up with them later!!

I have had friends get tickets for 1 over in Ohio
There used to be certain towns that didn't even have sales or property (can't remember which one, i think property) supposedly they made all that money on tickets

OH is kind of a crazy place anyway. Twenty over is reckless operation, a fourth degree felony worth six months in the pokey.
