Ticket costs going up??

Prepare for another "Tax Increase" from our WONDERFUL state!!

Illinois Supreme Court Rules
Amended June 3, 2010;

****Effective - September 15, 2010***

Bail for traffic tickets will increase from $75 to $120.

Speeding 21-30 mph over will increase from $95 to $140.

Speeding 31-39 mph over will increase from $105 to $160.

Seat belt tickets will increase from $55 to $60.

Unlawful use of license will increase from *$750 to $1500.

Misdemeanor driving suspended or revoked will increase from $1000 to $1500.

No valid license - other than expired less than a year - will increase from $1000 to $1500.

There are other changes to the Supreme Court Rule.

http://www.state.il.us/court/Supreme...htm#Rule%20526

Ride smart... stupid hurts.

Everyone crashes. Some get back on. Some don't. Some can't...

Godspeed 788!!! We miss you!

"Fees" or "Fines" instead of taxes. It's the new "change"

They're not going to just eat tax losses on cigarette sales, along with the monumental fiscal mismanagement.

Get ready for more state troopers "just doing their job". ...that being collecting your money.

Really, how long have these fees stayed the same? I'm pretty sure it was $75 back when I got my license 18 years ago. I really don't have a huge problem with these fee increases... costs have gone up since then...

The problem is the "enforcement" is going up as well...along with the bogus hwy speed limits. Try doing 55 on 294 or 355. I was doing 72 on 294S coming back from Road America on the bike, IN POURING RAIN and was getting passed like I wasn't moving. The speed limits are set so low intentionally in order to hand out tickets to "offenders".

It's a racket.

Hey, I agree for the most part. Some of the limits are bogus. I just don't think that raising the fines by itself is that terrible. Starting to ticket people for 60 in a 55 on an expressway would be pretty terrible though.

Try it on I-80 near Joliet though Arch. The speed limit goes from 55-65-55-45-65-55 from Briggs to I-55. I drive it every day and have no idea what the speed limit really is half the time!

None yet, but I feel like it's a matter of time. Blending with traffic is the key for sure, I just hate when you wind up heading the pack!

dont bitch...states like Florida have a flat rate and then they charge a fee for every mile you are over and I think it's 4 bucks a mile. A 15 over ticket is like 165.00

Its good to bitch just because some other state wants to be dry doesn't mean that IL should too. Also do not forget the court cost they keep raising. Go figure that you have to pay to use a legal system that you already pay for through other tax channels.

We need to start voting these assholes out of state congress.

I don't think that even if every driver got a new ticket that it would make a dent in the current deficit, let alone the increasing one due to year to year increases in pension obligations.

There isn't enough spare cash in IL (outside of the politicians, mind you) to fill the hole now and going forward.
