car towed on route

my buddy car broke down on route 83. I told him we should push it backwards to get it to the offramp, but he didn't want to push it backwards.

came back today, and its gone.

He is probably gonna let them keep it, since the vehicle is probably done for. But where do i find out who towed it? The town towed it or would it be IDOT?

Any time a car is left on the road you have two hours on major highways to have it removed or it will be towed. You'll need to call the Pd in the town it was left in to see who has the car. If he is going to leave the car with the tow company i would advise he give them the title and does it properly rather than just never claiming the car. Any unpaid tows in Illinois can result in the tow company being able to stop you from re-newing a drivers license or license plates.

thats why i was iffy with the route 83, since its not a major highway, and theres no tow signs. I've seen them on real highways.

He doesn't have the title, he is about 2 payments away from owning it. When it broke down, I'm not sure if it is worth repairing.

he can't afford to pay for tow or storage since he is unemployed. He has work lined up, but I'm sure the storage fees will be enough to buy another vehicle.

Cuz only someone who's high off their ass would leave a car just chill on the highway for a day or so then decide to just let them have it.

So a car that is probably only worth 200 dollars in scrap value is that important. I'm sure it would cost more than 3 grand if a shop had to repair it.

He broke down two other times, and he never had an issue leaving it in a parking lot or a side of the road .

He will still get a bill for towing and storing even if they sell it for scrap. If he ignores the bill, it will show up on his credit report. He needs to call and arrange a solution today before he racks another day of storage at $75 a day.

+1 Still his property. You can't just abandon it on the road and expect the rest of us to pay to get rid of it.

He was looking forward in selling the vehicle for parts,(if it wasn't fixable) why would he want to give money away?

just for future reference if a roadway has access ramps to get on and off, you can assume its considered a major highway

so is it a major highway if theres on and off ramps for only 5 mile section? Then the other 60 miles, its a typical 4 lane road?

While bickering here, he collected another day of storage charges. If he can't pay to release it, loan him the money. Have him make arrangements TODAY. The tow lot will get paid for the tow and might be willing to bargain on storage fees. Get it released and get the junkyard to come pick it at the tow lot.

Do it before the tow yard sells the debt to a collection agency. An open collection will stay on his credit report for seven years.

Pay now, or pay more later. It's his choice.

If you don't go get it. Thats abandoned. You're going to need to help him find the money to get the car out of storage. The fees add up quick. The tow yard probably would settle the amount. It's easier for them. They probably don't want the hassle of unloading the car. If they have to, the'll call a junk yard and take $100 for it. After they file all the paperwork and wait the appropriate amount of time. Then the storage fees are going to be $2000.00. They'll file against him and he'll owe the difference. $1900 in this example. Help him find a way. Even if you have to pay $200.00 to get it out. Then call a wrecker and sell it to them for the $200.00

Loan him the tow charge. Most likely $100 to $150. Call Victory Auto and have them pick it up from the tow storage lot. My kid had a '97 Honda Accord that was not worth fixing and they gave him $175 once he handed the title and keys over.

so anyway, vehicle is MIA, need to call the PD again in the morning. Otherwise, buddy needs to report it stolen.

What is the point of this thread? Buddy's a retard leaving a car just sitting, without letting local PD know about it to boot.

point of the thread is asking, where the vehicle might have went.

So what would you do if your not from this area, your car broke down, its unfixable, it has 200,000 miles on it. Don't have a cell phone, no money, no money to get a tow?

also, your mommy and daddy isn't around to bail you out.

Not have gone in the first place. Don't go anywhere without money, especially in an unfamiliar area with a POS vehicle.

Going to some other dude's mom's house to play D&D with him in the basement isn't worth it.

so how is a guy suppose to get someplace for some work(which is where he was going when he broke down)? Because your liberal president got everyone unemployed? Or i can let him know, your willing to let him live at your house and feed him, for free since your a rich liberal in Naperville. Pay the extra high taxes to keep unemployed people out.

btw, finally found it. it did get towed. had to get through 15 different police stations because like my previous joke a while back. No police station wants to take responsibility over a jurisdiction......especially on highways.

uh no, thats that towns watch

uh no, thats the town 10 miles away that watches that part.

so why are you taking so long to report it. Uh because your police station said to call the next day, and at the same time, your telling me it isn't your jurisdiction, NOW, eventhough YOUR police station said it was your jurisdiction, yesterday.
