Get it re-activated before court and bring in proof and whatever it is, you might get it reduced by half... In Dupage, last time I was in court I think the fine was 500 or thereabouts... people who brought in proof got out with a 250 fine. It was more than a year ago and the prices may have gone up... but bringing proof is the way to show the judge you 'learned your lesson and corrected it'.

get it reinstated and get a card for the time you got the ticket. its 500-1000 and the state will also require you to carry that sr-22 crap on top of your current insurance.

you do not want this on your record.

if you got to court with an insurance card for that time period they will dismiss the whole thing

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

first time offense is $100. Did your insurance company actually cancel your policy?

If you ain't with us, then it's just bad news.

As others have stated. You do not want this on your record.

Pay for the insurance. Get a current insurance card. Go to court. Show that you now have insurance (doesn't fix that you didn't have insurance). You'll pay the fine, but since you now have proof of insurance they'll probably drop the ticket, and you won't have to file SR-22's (which you REALLY do not want to have to do). If they don't drop the ticket, and it goes on your record...well, get ready for a lot of hassle and high insurance premiums.

Also, why didn't your agent/agent staff call you and let you know your policy was due/about to lapse?
