Speed cameras are bad enough on the highways, these low speed limits make it worse. Let a highway designed to be driven at 65-70 have the speed limits to match.

These are not red light cameras. These are SPEED cameras. They have radar built-in. I thought the whole idea of getting pulled over was to make you think, and slow down right then and there. What's the point of telling someone to slow down several weeks/months later?

So they can aquire more violations by you in the mean time.

+1, Back when ipass first came out, I had a transponder that malfunctioned in the first few weeks I had it. Mind you, this is before they started that system where your plates are linked to the account and if your unit is dead, they will automatically deduct the amount from your account, back then they would send you non payment violations. One day I opened my mailbox to find $2,500 in fines from ipass for toll violations dating back for nearly 2 YEARS. They didn't have any interest in informing me of my broken unit as they were making a huge chunk of change off me.

Needless to say, I lawyered up and paid $70 in tolls that I had owed and that was the end of it. But to your point, they will let you rack them up for months, even at the same light, let you think you're not getting ticketed for the violations and then hand you the bill. Upsetting when traffic laws are designed to generate revenue over saving lives.

Same concept though, hands off money maker for the city. That argument could be made for any photo enforcement including ipass violations. Sending a ticket months later with 2-3 violations on it isn't helping deter anyone.

Here's the problem with speed camera.

When I approach a red light camera traffic light that is about to turn red, I usually 'gun' it, hence avoid the red light ticket. But now, they'll get me for speeding instead. You can't win! (unless you drive speed limit)

5 mph over the limit!? What the hell kinda shit is that? I don't think cops even give tickets at 5 over, especially when traffic is always going faster than the limit.

Sounds like a good time to get into the "Flip Plate" business... Flip plate up normally.... Flip plate down when you notice LEO around.

It's getting ridiculous with the crap they are now enforcing now that the economy went to shit. Let's just put another hand in an already empty pocket. An example is where I live. They are ticketing for parking over the sidewalk between 7am and 10pm and bitching about people being parked on the street.
