General Speed Restriction Ticket???? BOGUS

So a week or so ago i was cruising around, and turned left in front of a police car, made a good stop, used my signal, the whole works. I took off up the road kind of fast when he was out of sight, and pretty soon he pulls up in front of my house saying that "I could hear you winding that thing out, i KNOW you were speeding ....", and proceeds to write me a ticket called "General Speed Restriction"... I asked to see his speed reading and he said he didnt have one.

What kinda bull traffic citation is that???? I mean he doesnt even have to PROVE i was speeding or what?????

Does anybody know about this violation? I dont have the ILCS number with me, ill post it when i get it.

Jake

Wow!!! do you kick his dog or some shit??? he dont like you very much.

if this is what I think it is, its the law that says the officer can use his best judgement that you were speeding and write you a ticket for it.

He thought i was someone else, it seems. There was some hotshot out on one of the main streets through town pulling wheelies and destroying the speed limit on a bike that just happens to look quite a bit like mine. So since he thought it was me who had gotten away from him, he decided i was getting a ticket no matter what. He also tried to accuse me of fleeing to elude, which he eventually dropped since he never had his lights on behind me until i was parked.....

I might kick his dog now, just for good measure though ......

haha, yeah same thing happened to me once around woodfield. some dork was tearing up the local roads and I just got off the highway when he went whizzing by. A Schaumburg cop pulls me over and gave me grief about trying to elude him by weaving in and out through various apartment complexes parking lots. I told him I didn't know what the hell he was talking about, pulled out a restaurant receipt that I just came from and said I came from a totally different direction than what he was babbling about. He took my license and insurance info and made me sit on the road for about 10 minutes before letting me go on my way.

If you ever went to court it would be easy to claim that since you were out of sight, the officer must have mistaken you for some other rider that went by

I've never heard of a ticket like that. It seems like total nonsense, so I'm sure you can get it dismissed.

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!
