Red light ticket help

Hi:

One of my girls got hit with a King Daley special. The rub is, she wasn't driving her car. It was her boyfriend. She was riding shotgun. Does anyone know if she can easily fight it and how?

Thx,

Bruce

Gee, with all the experienced traffic scofflaws around here I figured this thread would have attracted more attention.

Um, what's a King Daley special? Thats a new term for me.

If you're saying that your girl got a ticket and she wasn't even driving, well, that's a job for a lawyer to handle, but if you're saying something else, you'll need to clarify it a bit more.

Thanks.

The lady I work with her son had the car the ticket goes on her record unless you go to court to say it belongs on the other persons. Other than that pay the ticket and when you see the sign that say Photo Enforced don't be late on the yellow.

Long live the King

Yep! Got it first try.

Don't they need a picture of your face to ticket you with a red light camera?

They just want the money, they don't care who's driving. If her BF is a good guy he will show up and take blame because it can make her insurance go up

ahhhh, that's a cool term!

Sounds like a lawyer's gonna need to step in unless the boyfriend takes one for the team.

We got one in my wife's car, not sure if it was me or her driving that day. The pics didn't show that it was clearly a run light, she fought it and won. She said that maybe the yellow isn't sustained long enough for the 35 MPH speed limit. I think most people who fought them got off.

Thx.

After talking to her a little more, I don't know if she wants to take the time off to go downtown to fight it for $85. If you count the amount of $ she will loose by not working, plus paying for parking etc it will cost her more to fight it plus she will need to deal with the aggravation factor.

Oh, her BF is/was a looser POS. He couldn't or wouldn't stand up to a 10 mph breeze. She finally kicked him out and changed the locks. I even offered to go there as the enforcer. Smart lady took one of the other girls with to keep everything cool. Long over due... LMAO, I really care too much about my employees.

It's one of those cheaper to pay than to get justice tickets. Sorry to hear one of your girls got hit with one.

Will she get supervision?? Otherwise Make sure to have her check with her insurance as it will cost her more over the next 3-5 yrs depending on how far back her insurance looks because it's a moving violation

She could always plead innocent and sic the courts on the POS boyfriend.

I believe that would be "burning a bridge"

Let the POS boyfriend deal with it.

I got off a red light ticket in Chicago just for getting in the no contest line.

They announced those who plead guilty over in this line, those innocent in this line and no contest in this line..... All no contest people got to walk that day.
Lucky? I dunno but it was worth the trip downtown for me.

This is gonna hurt!

In the long run, $85 is cheap to get rid of a deadbeat boyfriend/girlfriend.

Well, actually, I don't think it is a mover. IIRC, the way the system's set up in Chicago, they treat it like a parking ticket, which means that:

a) They don't have to prove who was driving, because it hits the owner of record, and
b) The City gets 100% of the fine, instead of splitting it with the state.

Oh, and it probably also means it doesn't show up against the driving record.

I need to go check the City code again about this to be sure, though.
