I got a ticket on my bike this morning for "Improper Overtaking." Apparently, you can only pass one car at a time. I didn't know that. Does anyone know if this is true??
Hmmm interesting....because I pass multiple cars all the time. I would go to court, if you haven't had a tickets in the last year....you can get supervision. Don't plead not guilty....ignorance is no excuse :rolleyes
For example, imagine if the 5th car back in that line of 10 decided to turn left onto a cross street while you were passing from that far behind? You're toast. What if another car pulls out to pass, I doubt they will be looking for a fast approaching bike behind them in the oncoming lane either.
I thought about passing 3-4 cars at once in a similiar scenario and a video that I saw previousl flashed through my head at that moment, and I decided against it. A few seconds later one of the cars turn left with little warning on a side street.
Seems kinda crazy for country driving. What if the farmers escorting the tractor. Then your stuck. I allways seem to be in the losing end of that scenerio and being the last to pull out because I am first behind the slow person.
My wife got pulled over for this on her bike... trying to keep up with me. I seen the cop and backed off.... on the four lane. It necked down to 2 and she pulled out and passed 3-4 cars. Here's the really screwed up part...lol. She gets pulled over, sniffles her way out of the ticket and gets told "We know your husband and what his bike looks like.... we're watching."
Damn, if 10 is a record, that's one I don't think I'll try to break. I think I did 3 once, and I didn't like doing that.
