Speeding ticket advice

OK ...on the way to the bash ...I got pulled over and ticketed with 64 in a 45.

This is the second ticket I have gotten with the Jeep where the cop is telling me I was going a speed that exceeds what my speedo is saying. For instance, cop: you were going 70 my speedo: never above 60

Plus ...the spot where he got me was on 62 between 59 and Palatine rd. There were no speed limit signs on this 1/2 mile stretch of road.

A) Is there a way of testing speedo accuracy? If proven to be off, is this a valid defense?

B) In this area, most raods are 55. I truly thought I was in a 55mph zone. Is there a defense at all for the lack of signage?

or do I just suck it up as usual and pay? I generally do not speed at night for a few reasons, and try to be careful, which makes this ticket especially annoying.

THe eaisiet way to verify your speedo these days is with a GPS unit.

If it is off and you have it fixed ( with proof ) I would imagine you could got off.

A) Not a valid defense. You have a MUCH better chance at challenging the accuracy of the radar gun the cop used.

b) Also not a valid defense. Unless somehow vandals removed signs and you can prove it.

Hire a cheap lawyer and take some supervision.

All you have to do is follow three simple rules. One, never under estimate your opponent (mentality). Expect the unexpected (could work out in your favor). Two, take it outside(or to a table). Never start anything inside the Bar unless it's absolutely necessary. And three, be nice.

i can do this, but its not a valid defense. judge is gonna say that if your doing 65 your flying past traffic and should know your going to fast.

i would go to traffic school.. 4 hours, but worth it so it doesn't go on your record.

Yeah ...I'll just pay it, and go to school. Didn't know, given the circumstances, if there was a leitimate way to wriggle my way out of it.

what does your guy charge?

i got a ticket today also 85 in 55 zone on i94 .

there are 3 options:
  • option to plead guilty and take 4 hour traffic school for $135 to avoid the ticket on record.
  • or pay only $95 and get it on record.
  • or go to court and gamble.

question is, will layer be cheaper? i think not, but do not know for sure, that is why i'm asking.

any advice?

p.s. i wasn't on a bike, although i saw a triumph guy today on i-94. poor man- it was 15F.
