41mph over

yeah as you can see i majorly fucked up. Class A misdemeanor. i'm officially a criminal. the worst part is it wasn't even on the bike. it was in my car which i had just sold (picking it up tomorrow). i took it out for one last blast and bam...i'm fucked. i know i have to lawyer up. just curious what i can expect. i have nothing on my record not even a warning. i also just sold my car so i won't be driving.
i know charge can carry a $2500 fine with up to a year in jail. i figure with my record and a lawyer i will just see a hefty fine and a lower version of the ticket. anyways, guess i'm just looking for some hope that that is all i will get.

UPDATE:
had my court date this morning. was in and out in about 30 mins.

the arresting officer put that my court time was 9am but on the bond he put down 10:30. we called and confirmed it was 9 but when we got to the court house they told us it was actually at 10:30. i was already nervous so this didn't help.

After talking to the prosecutor and what not they moved me to the head of the line. my lawyer talked to the prosecutor for like 15 mins and when they called me i was told this - 30 days supervision and a $205 fine (which included court costs). the ticket was officially knocked down from 41 over to 39 thus making it a simple speeding ticket and not a misdemeanor. so regardless of what happens, i.e. another ticket it can't come back to get me, at least from a criminal aspect. my lawyer then tells me that even if i did get another speeding ticke t (knock on wood) that he would get me supervision for that too. but at $750 a pop, i would hope so.

my lawyer was even surprised that's all i got. he at least expected twice the fine and 4 8hr classes. the best part was when my lawyer was talking to the prosecutor and he tells him i was driving a sentra. the guy goes "A SENTRA!!" , well he didn't know it was the spec-v.

anyway, i'm grateful it's over and want to thank everyone for all the recommendations, especially leavundst . thanks again.

get a lawyer, you should be able to get somewhere around 400.00 fine with 6 month supervision.

No big deal if you have a lawyer. You will probably have to go to driving school and pay a fine.

I was once tagged doing 61MPH in a 25MPH street. First time offense in over 10 years of driving, pleaded guilty, judge told me not to do it again and had me pay $150 fine with 3 months supervision.

My buddy was once tagged doing 120+ on the highway. Lawyered up, pleaded guilty, first offense in many many years, so the judge had him do 30 days community service.

You'll be OK.

no problem. If I somehow mixed up the number let me know and I will double check. As long as it was not in a school zone it's not a big deal especially since the cop did not arrest you. So don't worry about it.

ah no...i got arrested. he put me in the squad car, drove my ass to jail and wrote me a nice long ticket. he was kind enough to allow me out without posting bail though.

Hopefully you get off as easy as I did for my first ticket... 1 month after I got my license, 83 in a 35, $125 fine, no supervision, no lawyer.

Not to jack this thread, and I am glad a fellow board member did well (legally speaking) in court, but that just makes me f'n sick. I know there is a game to be played and that is just the way things are, but this scratching of each others backs (i.e. lawyers and judges) really pisses me off.

Ouch and in the cage... It just seems wrong.

There is nothing firm, nothing balanced, nothing durable in all the universe. Nothing remains in its original state, each day, each hour, each moment, there is change. Change is the essence of life. Embrace change as you do life. To fight change is to live in the past.
