Ticket for doing 55 in a 55
I cant believe this one. I got a ticket today for actually doing the speed limit. let me set this one up for you. Arsenal road going east from I-55. go through the construction by the petroleum plant doing 35, then construction ends and all traffic resumes 55. Then right over the crest of the bridge over the railroad, more construction signs start up. first lanes merge, then slow down for construction traffic etc, then about 1/4 mile past the bridge theres a 35 mph sign, well coming over the crest of the bridge I get shot by a motorcycle patrol officer form the lovely state of IL, and he's 50 feet past the crest of the bridge, which is a good 1000 feet BEFORE the 35 MPH sign, where construction speeds should have began, east of millsdale road. This was west of millsdale road. In fact by the time he got on his bike, and chased me down I pulled over right NEXT to the the friggin speed limit sign. Also if I was technically in a construction zone, shouldn't the fine have been 325 bucks? well he only wrote it for 75, either he was giving me a brake cause he knew he was wrong and wanted to save face after I questioned him about it. or he knew he was wrong and didn't charge me the construction zone fine.
and yes I have already placed a call to my lawyer.

That sucks, even though you will more than likely beat it, it still takes time out of your day to deal with it.

Damn that sucks. Off topic, but still a good story. When I got nabbed last month for my headlight being out, my buddy and I had old school rap on Sirius blaring on the system. Cop pulls me over, I turn down the tunes. Cop goes back to his car, we t-u-r-n it back up and guess what is playin....that's right Fuck Tha Police by NWA mutha fucka!! We were dying! Blasted it for a little bit while the cop filled out the ticket. Fuckin Classic moment.

Remember guys, by this officers logic if you roll through construction in Bloomington you should still be doing 35 when you get to Chicago.

Should have taken pics of where you were with the cop, and the sign...then you would be golden.
How you like me now?
I believe in Illinois you have 500 ft from the posted speed limit sign to slow down to it. The beam of radar cannot be closer then 500 ft from the sign. Although I'm not sure about frickin construction.

Also, current rulings are that there have had to have been workers in the construction zone. Similar to a school zone posted 20mph where you need children present and in proximity to the road, there must be workers present to enforce the minimum speed and fine amount.
Just remember it's not where the officer is sitting, it is where the radar is pointing. If the radar is pointing away from the speed sign - whether increase or decrease - the officer can sit on the sign and as long as he writes you for 501feet past the sign, it is good.
