update on my truck accident

So i had to go to court today for the lady who recieved the ticket in the accident. she pleads not guilty and asks for a trial. Well after sitting there for 2.5 hours, we finally get to trial. i was called as first witness, and told my story, she countered, etc etc. anyways, the judge reads this to her:

(625 ILCS 5/11‑902) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 11‑902)
Sec. 11‑902. Vehicle turning left.
The driver of a vehicle intending to turn to the left within an intersection or into an alley, private road, or driveway shall yield the right‑of‑way to any vehicle approaching from the opposite direction which is so close as to constitute an immediate hazard, but said driver, having so yielded may proceed at such time as a safe interval occurs.
(Source: P.A. 76‑1586.)

and says, "i'm sorry, but after reading this its pretty cut and dry, you made the left turn, Guilty" She had to pay $140

So now i'm gonna call her insurance in the morning and tell them about this law and they can stick it and give my 100% of my damage.

Most do anything to avoid taking responsibility. I'm on a 3rd continuance as a witness for a road-rage incident over a year ago... next trial again is set for august.

The guy even admitted to police exactly what he did about swerving, cutting off another car and coming to a complete stop in the middle of a 40MPH road to try to 'get back at' the other guy.

Especially sucks about the Marchesini's and the Full Akro and the 50gal Drum of VP that were damaged in the wreck. Hope they don't give you any shit about that reimbursement.

Ya and what exactly are they going to do about my 600RR that was next to yours on the trailer.

Well, you have to remember that this is the same lady that said she "had the arrow" -- when there was no arrow at that intersection!!!

I forgot about that. I wonder if she is the same woman who rear-ended my dad saying the sun was in her eyes. It was 8am and she was westbound on 64.

Arch, you're right about that. Pretty sad, isn't it.

Not entirely true. If you are making a left turn on a green arrow and some ass runs the red light its not your fault. Same concept, you are waiting to make a left turn while already IN the intersection. Light goes yellow (traffic still on coming from other directions), and then you go to proceed when said light has turned to red and on coming traffic has stopped... except for the bitch in the SUV who runs the light by a good second and plows into you..... not your fault either (she ran the light).

A green does not mean you are always in the right.

If you saw them coming and saw that they could not stop in time, yet continued to turn and get into their path, you are at fault too.

You may not get a ticket but you bare some responsibility.

It's the same thing as if you turn on a green arrow and a cop T-Bones you as he was rushing to a call. You should have seen/predicted what was going to happen.
