Don't say I didn't warn you

If you are planning on being anywhere in the area of downtown Naperville this summer your bike and you better be completely up to IVC code or you can expect to get pulled over and given a ticket. Just a friendly warning.

Great! Always love it when someone comes to town and acts like a dick early in the summer so that we can't even have coffee in peace!

Ahhhh I see the jack booted thugs are honing up on their tax collecting revenue skills! My advice...be legal....avoid the area when on the bike, walk into the that area where the said "enforcement" is happening....inform the merchants that you will not be frequent their establishments because of the harassment you receive while riding legally. It's exactly what Tony did at Strats...spoke with the owner, told him CLSB has at least 100 bikes showing up on Wednesday night...versus 5 to 8 vette drivers....owner did the math....$7 average sale x 100 vs $7 x 8. As soon as local merchants realize they are loseing sales....they will start complaining to the mayor....and LEOs will go away. But then again...is Naperville a hot bed of criminal activity It has to be much like Barrington, the occassional broken mail box, the harassment of hispanic landscape guys and the enforcement of a 25 MPH speed limit. I say again....most surburban PDs should change their motto to "Harass and ticket" because they rarely "Serve and Protect"

Sometimes goodbye is your second chance.

I just read the Post Strats thread. Damn, I missed all the fun.

I hope they catch that jack-off who ran. Its always the minority that screws it up for the majority.

And Rick, I go to DT Nville often and have never been harassed. I don't act like an idiot and I get left alone.

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!

They get a little carried away once in a while, but they also have a job to do and it's the merchants who want them there. You would have to be around there a lot to understand the stupid shit they have to put up with. Yes, I get a little annoyed when they're in a bad mood because of some jerkweed coming into town (usually several jerkweeds), and I really don't like that as a tax-paying citizen of Naperville I can't stand around conversing and having coffee in peace without an attitude because of it.

As much as I hate it, I've already voted with my money. I seldom go downtown any more and give my business to my neighborhood Caribou. I'm tired of talking. Each time the manager at the Starbucks recognizes me and mentions I haven't been around, I mention why.

If you're one of the jerkweeds who comes into Naperville making me unwelcome in the city where I live and pay taxes, do us all a favor and find another place to cause problems!

I not sure what happened in Naperville on Wednesday after Strats...nor do I care. If you act like an idiot and get a ticket, then it was deserved. The above statement reeks of harassment.....plain and simple. To me it reads "Ride a sportbike thru Naperville....you will be stopped and harassed" Period...this kind of enforcement is illegal in my eyes. Whats next?? Scion XBs? Hummers? Corollas?? Dressed in a fashion that someone doesn't like? Wrong skin color?? Does anyone realize if you have an after market exhaust...you could be against IVC code. My orginial thoughts stand....avoid Naperville, they obviously don't need our money.

Note to self - Change plates from Busa Reg to Duc Reg and NEVER go to Naperville

Then I guess the only REAL police work is done in Chicago? Should we not enforce the 25mph speed limit, which is posted speed in residential areas where kids are playing? I guess only the speed limits that should be enforced are 45+?

Jesus man... the department is focused on stepping up ALL enforcement on ALL vehicles (yes... sportbikes, harleys, choppers, etc) and shenanigans in the DT area during the summer months with all the crowds and such. This post was only a suggestion to be careful to my fellow riders. If you don't like it down there don't go... I don't.
