I got a ticket in the mail. I ran a red light making a right hand turn 94 secs into the light. I stopped for a very long time but still broke the law. Watch the video

thats fricken crazy.. i could not view the video, but appers to B.S. that you made a right turn on red, were its LEGAL and you got a ticket.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you have to stop at the first white line before moving forward to make the right hand turn. However since that other asshat is already well over the line and you can't see past him you pulled a little further forward.

You failed to stop at the white line before entering the intersection. The guy in the left lane is also in the intersection on a red light. The guy in front of you may or may not have rolled past the white line...cant tell for sure as the clip just starts. The SUV at the end stopped right on the line. That's all I saw that stuck out.

I do not remember a no turn on red there. Double check that.

2. Failure to stop at the crosswalk first before advancing into the intersection to turn right.
3. The small SUV in the center lane advanced into the intersection on a red light.
4. The car in front of you never even stopped for the right turn.

Joe...how did the ticket come? Was it from the Village of Bolingbrook? Or did it come from the company that operates the redlight cameras for Bolingbrook? If the Village of Bolingbrook has comissioned the company to issue tickets for them, I would basically ignore them and the ticket. Basically it's not a "legal" ticket...wasn't issued by an law enforcement agency...sorry redlightcamera.com is not a law enforcement agency....they get a percentage of any "fees" they collect....so if they collect $100...the village gets 75, they get 25. I would consult with a lawyer....since you already accepted the "violation" by opening it...anytime you get anything like this in the mail....and your not expecting it...throw it away! Let them serve you in person....oh if an unknown person comes to the house asking for you by name...if they are not a law officier, I believe they still have to identify themselves...you always say no....I'm just the house sitter...never accept anything from them, if approached by your car...just say your using "his" car while he's out of town on business. Either way....DON'T PAY the thing until you get further information!

It's not a "ticket", wasn't issued by law enforcement...or the Village itself...it was issued by redlightcamera.com. A legal violation, if you plead guilty and pay the fine a judgement of guilty will be passed and noted on your permanent driving record and thus public knowledge! I don't see Joe's mug anywhere in the video...just a plate number....if the ticket was issued to Joe....and he was not operating the car...he's not guilty of the violation, the person operating the car is....there is doubt, if there is a shadow of doubt, you innocent.

Even though you stopped and wait for on coming traffic to clear before you make your right hand turn, but it was well over the white line. To me, it seem like if there are no on coming traffic you would most likely blow through that light with out stopping, which in this case there no point in arguing. But you know what? You never know, you might get lucky, never hurt to try. Good luck.

Coincidentally we just got two EZ-Pass violations in the mail from stupid Pennsylvania. Our I-Pass worked in NY, NJ, and is supposed to work in PA too, but they are try to hose me for $80 in fines on two seperate violations.

This is going to be a fun phone call, I have reciepts and GPS data showing where I was and how it was paid. Stupid system.

The ticket is for failure to yield. Even though it is a wide street the left turning car has right of way with the arrow. See pic.

I agree with Rick. If they can't prove you were driving how can YOU get a ticket.

With all of us logging in under his ID.. I'd say it came... especially if he did from an IP that can be traced back to his house.

I still thinks he has a good chance at successfully fighting this ticket.....even tho he has made several errors. This "ticket" has not been issued by an official law enforcement agency, of course someone with decent search skills, could find out how the people of Scottsdale AZ beat the photo tickets a couple of years back...I'm almost positive they eventually canned the firm Scottsdale was using...mainly because this firm was sending tickets, and they were not a law enforcement agency. Basically think of it this way...I know on the internet you can buy....blank ticket books....looks like the actually speeding summons...I could stand on a corner with a radar gun, and camera, take pictures of speeders, track them down...send them a summons...with ok from my city or village....and offer to give them 75% of all the funds I collect. This is what is happening here.
