ipass camera question

I was just curious if anybody know if the cameras in the ipass lanes are able to pick up sportbike license plates when there under the tail, like slightly in front of the rear tire? I don't have an ipass and it seems like a real hassle to stop and get out your wallet while on the bike, especially with gloves on. I'm not saying I would blow the tolls, but a "hypothetical situation"

Pull the front wheel up while rolling through the ipass. Can't read it then.

I'm guessing the overhead cameras in the mainline lanes won't catch a plate in front of the wheel.

The side-mounted cameras in the cash lanes might be a whole different story though...

I've had mine registered since last year and I never carry my ipass around. I haven't been billed once yet for the times I've went through with the bike. I'm waiting though. Some of us have waited 2-3 years and then had the bill dumped all at once for v-tolling. You just call them when they do send that bill if you're plates are registered to an ipass and they'll just charge you the regular amount.

That's what I've heard from a bunch of people, and I'd do it but I haven't mastered the wheely yet.

Just get the iPass. I think they take $40 from you, credit your account with it, and give you the iPass. then just register all your plates and have at it.

A state trooper told me that if your caught blowing the tolls, you can be charged with theft of services. But I think that is bull shit, especially when they send you a $300 fine with list of blown tollbooths.

I linked bike with my i-pass. I go through tolls all the time, but never carry the i-pass on the bike. I just checked my account the other day and in one year of riding, I've only gotten 6 v-tolls.

I heard vtolls are twice the price but you can drop the price down if you call them and simply state the ipass didn't function while you were on the bike.

they just send u a bill eventually, I've already gotten bills for 3 cars and the gsxr (stock mounted plate). But on the cbr my plate is tucked away and i've yet to receive that bill yet. There is no theft or anything like that, as long as you have a valid ipass and the plate is registered then your fine. I never carry mine.

I have I-Pass and just received a violation notice because they did not have my new car plates entered correctly. Ths picture was from a very low angle. If this was a bike, they would easily be able to read the plates no matter what the angle. It was also enlarged.

How about paying for tolls?

+1 fork up the money for an ipass. I have my car and bike registered and go through ipass without having it on me. But I have gotten billed 2-3 years later about it and I just give them a call and they clear it up.
