Toll Fines.

Since Blago is probably going to be impeached, do i still need to pay the $62 fine i received in the mail for blowing 3 tolls?

You are using the road, so pay for it. The toll authority doesn't receive any funding from the feds, all funding comes from tolls collected. Yes, it is right to pay the toll.

What about the roads that don't have tolls? We're not dumping coins on the side of the road to use those. Tolls are new to me.

Don't you see those big signs next to all tolls that say "Missed a toll? Go to www.something or other.com and pay it." That would have kept you from getting a fine, too.

I-Pass has been around LONG before Blago. His removal is utterly irrelevant.

Very true. Once spaceships and Jetson copters rule the airspace the road tolls will disappear.

Look up Illinois Toll Road history...the tolls were supposed to be temporary and highways to have been paid for decades ago.

That said, notice how nice the i355 extension is? I bet it's going to last a LONG time because of better build quality. Now WTF can't all the Illinois highways be built that solid? Other states, even ones with our amount of traffic don't have that much repair/replacement going on!

. . .
That's what I was getting at.

Instead toll roads have become a cash cow for the state and there's no way they'll (tolls, not the roads) go away.

Improvements in materials used for our midwest climates have alot to do with road longevity (heat/freeze/salt cycles). Besides that, road work keeps people working. If a road lasted forever, there would be alot of people out of work. Obama has said that he wants to increase funding to infrastructure which would help the economy (people working, people buying). Same if cars lasted forever, why would you buy another one?

Paid.

FYI - someone had suggested on getting an ipass before paying to see if they'll write it off. Wrong. You cannot purchase an ipass if you have fines.

No, but I had a bunch of fines cause I forgot to add my new car. When I added the new car, they took it off. And I think it depends on who picks up the phone.
