Back in the 90s I had blackout kits on my cameros' tail lights. Cops never gave me issues with them.

Your lights have to be visible from a certain distance. Check with DMV what that is.

taillight tints and the taillight covers with the little holes are the stupidest thing I've seen done to cars unless the car is a show only car and I used to be into modifying civics and stuff so I've seen some stupid stuff.

Anyone who gets rearended with these should be the ones getting the ticket and having to pay all damages. Seen some so dark even at night you can barely make out the brake lights.

I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested.

Even if they are legal you should still get a ticket. A ticket for poor taste.

Any of you old timers here remember or have been street racing on Ogden ave just east of Cicero ave? I remember seeing two dips in the road where the cars did burnouts and have only heard stories about the action there.

I came here to drink some beer and kick some ass. And it looks like we are all out of beer.

For the most part if it's not installed by the manufacturer its illegal with the exception of clear.

Not being stopped by LEO doesn't NOT make it illegal.

First off, if you've read my post i said my daily driver, not my motorcycle, and no i would not tint the taillight of my gsxr, secondly "old timers" im not putting the Gts covers on the taillights which were ever so popular on fox body mustangs, its a taillight film made by laminx which is completely removable if need be and as far as the opinons if you like it or not, to each their own cause ive been to plently of bikes night where ive seen a ton of people do things to their bikes that i think looks shitty, but its their bike and if it makes them happy so be it. For those of you that helped answer my question i appreciate it. Thank you!

Cool

Old timer = someone over 55.
Just wondering if anyone remembered old street racing from the area. Not just cruising Archer or racing at Doty rd.

I came here to drink some beer and kick some ass. And it looks like we are all out of beer.

i use to drive "fast" in my cars going to UIC on that section of ogden, both sides of cicero.

Are you talking about before they demolitioned that bridge?

My buddy (old timer) said they use to race near kiddieland. that had to be 60s 70s?

Not legal to modify the factory head/taillights in any way that reduce their operation and/or performance. But if it's subtle I'd doubt you'll ever get hassled for it, much less pulled over and ticketed. I still see RAM trucks driving around with those ram-head covers which are 100x times more obvious than a smoked film would be, so you'd probably be safe.

Yep. The rebuilt that intersection of 26th Ogden and Cicero not to long ago. I'm talking about 70s and 80s. I do remember a friends dad taking us over there to check it out.

dude, if you have to ask if something is illegal in IL, you obviously dont know IL that well. Everything is illegal, if it isnt, its only because they hadnt thought of it yet and it soon will be!!

pretty soon abe lincoln will be coming off our license plates and it will be replaced by a nanny

lol this is very true, just a small glimpse of hope, i see that illinois has a bill that passed through both houses, and is sitting on the governors desk for approval to legalize 35% tints on all windows (minus the windshield), hopefully things may change a lil bit!
