Ticket preventing me of getting new job.

I had a ticket for going 21 over almost 2 years ago. I'm really tired of my current job so I decided to apply to this company that I really want to work for a week ago. They called me for an interview and went really well and they want me to come work for them. After passing drug and physical tests, the only thing that I didn't pass was the MVR because of this ticket.

I talked to a buddy of mine that had the same problem and he said to go to the courthouse and ask for a court of motion, where you talked to the judge and explain the situation( of course paying some $$ ), then is totally up to the judge to clear it off your record.

I'm just really frustrated and will do everything possible to get this job, even if I have to hire a lawyer or whatever I need to do.

Anybody here had the same problem? any advise please?

What kind of job is it for?

If it requires driving, if they're going to provide a car or insurance for you, I would understand. But otherwise, that's BS! Sucks.

It is an auto parts store, even though I don't have to drive for them..they will provide me with a company vehicle. You said it, it really sucks and it is a bunch of BS but I really want it!

Just go to court house and get it cleared up bro. Will take time and $ but should be able to fix it.

...plus my gf was with me saying "omg slow down, slow down" and I was thinking "Lose annoying squalk box in passenger seat, afford more mods and have less weight in the car and on the back of the bike"...so i dumped her and I'm single again as usual...HERE KITTY KITTY!!!

I don't know about IL law but, WI law says:

It may be a violation of state law to discriminate against a job applicant because of an arrest or conviction record. Generally speaking, an employer may refuse to hire an applicant on the basis of a conviction only if the circumstances of the conviction substantially relate to the particular job. For more information, see Wisconsin Statute 111.335 and the Department of Workforce Development's Arrest and Conviction Records under the Law publication.

If you ain't with us, then it's just bad news.

FYI it's a Motion to Vacate. You go back before the Judge and explain why you messed up the first time. You will pay costs, and might get put back on supervision.

I did that and honestly I got pretty lucky, the judge dismissed my case and didn't even get supervision.

BTW, I started my new job today!!

Thanks man!

So what happened? you went and told them the ticket was gone and they hired you? Thats cool that they didnt totally drop you for something like that.

Also I'm getting pretty damn sick of this state using excessive ticketing for revenue generation as it affects all facets of your life. I got no problem paying fines, but get rid of this stupid record bullshit.

Well, I told them that but they did run my MVR again to make sure..and it was gone( of course after paying $80 just to go to court and going to the Secretary of State in downtown to have it done faster). It was cool that my employer really wanted me to work for them and was willing to wait a couple of weeks, I got it done in one!

I couldn't agree with you more about the fines man, it it is really stupid that that kind of stuff will not be erased from your record..ever!! That shit could have cost me a new job...it makes no sense to me, specially when it was only that ticket on my record

Especially when the state gets paid from income taxes, and they aqre preventing people from going to work with that shit. Counterproductive.

No pain, just unable to walk normal still. It's gotten better, but still it's a pain. I actually got out on the bike this Sunday in over 6 weeks. Taking it easy has helped. Still gonna take time.
